Which car for the folks?

Ok my parents are in the market for a small (nearly new car)

My mum just had her left hip done (again) so automatic seems sensible. My poor dad has just been diagnosed with something or other, so he can't drive anymore.

Currently she has a Yaris, Y reg, 1.0 manual (15000 miles)

They would like:

1.4 automatic, with climate control, 3 door.

Should they stay with Japanese or have a look at the Ford/Vauxhall options?

Your opinions & help are welcome, as always.

Thanks :)

Rob

I really like my Honda Civic, and they do an auto for the petrol models. Not sure if there's a 3dr petrol auto though, but the 5 door looks like a 3 door anyway. Great car to drive. Great in so many ways. I'm talking about the new shape 2006-on Civic.

Is the Civic not a MMT (multi mode transmission) if so, its a manual with a automatic selector bolted on. If this is the case stay well clear.

I would stay clear of all MMTs as they are more hassle than there worth and are often sold as automatics. Just make sure it is an auto you buy and not an MMT
