AJI
Really not a fan of all these gumball events as they put geniune car enthusiasts in a bad light. From watching the youtube vids and also seeing it on TV it seems once you get into europe that many of the entrants think that even the most basic of road laws no longer apply to them. Kearney
I'd rather go to Dick's house. I note with interest the OP hasn't been on here since last October. I'm a car enthusiast and I'm going with 5 different cars from Ireland?? Does that mean because i'm going to this it doesn't make me a "genuine" car enthusiast? Don't tar everyone with the same brush, I drive my supra like a granny. Exactly, its a fun trip and its a great experience to drive 3000miles in a week through 9 countries and to do the nurburgring on the way back

I would say if you got the opinion of the european police and the popular opinion of the european public what they think of British gumball type events that go through their countries... I'd say you wouldn't get a nice response. And generally this puts a bad light on all UK sports/performance cars that drive in europe. I have a lot of friends in europe and the ones that are into cars tell me that the single biggest thing that puts british drivers in a bad light are these gumball events. Because they get a lot of bad media in France, Germany, Belguim etc. Tell you a little story; On my last trip to the Nurburgring in 2008, some utter c0ck from Essex in a Porsche GT3 RS undertook me at 100+ mph in Belguim.... he had to slam on his brakes when the truck infront of him pulled out and he then decided to use the hard shoulder to under take a convoy of trucks that were in lane one. This naturally threw up a load of debris from the hard shoulder all over the following cars. I could hear the trucks using their horns in an attempt to say "you're a total c0ck"...but the GT3 driver kept on it and under took about 6 trucks. As I went past (iin lane 2), I got a load of hand signals from the truckers directed towards me as they thought I was part of a group of cars that included this porsche. When I pulled into the next service station the GT3 was also there. I went up to him to give him a bollocking and he went on to describe how two weeks previous he had just returned from the main gumball rally..... and told me that when he is in europe that nobody from the UK follows the rules. He told me that he was used to driving this way because everyone was doing it on the gumball rally. He really couldn't tell why I was soo pi$$ed off at him, and thought that because I was a brit in europe that I should also not give a damn. His only driving experience in europe prior to that one was with the gumball. So my point of view about european gumball events is not a good one. It seems, from what I've seen and heard about, it simply turns people into total c0cks. If you do go, please drive with an ambition to show that UK drivers can actually drive sensibly. (Also have fun of course, but in the right places).

So they think we're different anyway so don't worry we won't be giving you'se a bad name even if we did do something wrong lol
Supraman
I'm doing the ModBall this year too! My car's currently with CheckPoint Garage in Arbroath getting a Greddy Emanage unit fitted and mapped. I've created a web page (http://web.me.com/nford1/index.html) that I intend to keep updated throughout the rally (internet connection being available) with a blog and pics. Speed, girls, beer, Arrested and thrown out of Germany, with police escort, all leads to one brill week. Would be doing it again this year, but car is off the road for some major Power Level Improvements all will be revealed soon.
