TRD Clutch RAttle

i have a supra with a trd clutch and lightened flywheel but it rattles about on idle until i raise the revs, the clutch is not slipping at all, it also rattles when it is been driven until you hit high revs.

is this common or is my release bearing knacked, i ask as i have been told this is common on uprated clutches as theses clutches have no springs.

i just dont like the noise and want to advice my buyer correctly and give him the correct info

I originally had a TRD twin plate clutch/flywheel fitted 3-4 years ago, it grinded when engaged and rattled a lot at tickover.

A few months ago I had new friction plates, housing and bearing replaced and it is now almost as quiet as a stock clutch, I would describe the rattle at tickover as slight. I suspect the garage that fitted my first clutch did a crap install.

If it is rattling excessively could be that new bearing may help IMO.

A none dual mass flywheel (lightweight flywheel) will cause transmission noise. It's the flywheel though, not the clutch. A single plate TRD clutch on a stock dual mass flywheel is rattle free. This is why Toyota fitted a heavy and expensive dual mass flywheel as stock, to kill transmission rattles..... :)

I have a 93 NA, just had a new clutch put in and the stock flywheel resurfaced, now the car rattles anywhere between 1800-2200 rmps, is this the same deal? Normal because the flywheel's been "lightened"? . . . Should I leave it this way or get a new flywheel, the rattling drives me nuts!
