stevie_b
I've never heard of this problem from anyone else. Are you sure you mean "distributor"? My knowledge of engines isn't great, but I don't think there should be any oil anywhere near the distributor. My guess is that your leak is coming from somewhere else. PS I might be getting confused with the distributor cap. Someone else more knowledgeable than me will be along soon....
jihwaan
The distributor head is driven by a gearshaft that runs inside the engine. This shaft is usually mounted on two sealed bearings and sealed by an o-ring. if the seal fails it pulls oil from within the engine, I have had this happen on quite a few RB series nissan motors, and I am presuming the same principals apply to the 2jz, but I could be wrong, I havent had a good look, I only saw it when I was at work today, hence me posting on here for advice. That said, what you say could be valid Ill look for other sources of the leak. Bloody thing only has just ticked over 70 thousand k's, it doesnt get driven hard at all, and its leaking from the rocker gasket too!! I spose I shouldnt complain tho its 14 years old now... I still need the part number for the o-ring, or for some advice on whether I can replace it or have to get a new distributor... If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated..!! Nic
See EPC images attached. I can supply new parts if needed they'd take around 4-5 weeks to order though
