tooquicktostop
I remember this car being discussed on here some time back, wheels gave that away, what is the engine spec, I am curious, how much did you pay if you dont mine me asking Edit.. I remember now, 5 speed 650+ BHP ...knew there was 'something'
Tom
5 speed box? & 658bhp?? or does it have the 6 speed? or R154 5 speed box?
grafter
nothings been handed over as yet, but if youve got some gossip id be very appreciative. Any chance of a link to that thread? Hes sending me a spec list later tonight of whats been done
Guest Budz86
Very nice spec mate and she looks clean. I'll admit I'm not too keen on the spoilerless looks but thats my own personal opinion. I know a lot of members have gone down that route. I do agree with TooQuickToStop though, 650+ BHP on a 5 speed box does sound ambitious. Did he show you a dyno graph? It might be worth asking for one. Good luck with the purchase though, I know you will enjoy it! Dean
Wez
5 speed, is it an NA/T?
grafter
thats what i thought but said it was the loss of top end (no 6th and 180mph) that was the diff, again Im not going to buy unless he can proove what hes saying. Im also going to get my mate (toyota mech) to have a look at it with me one day before parting with the cash. And agreed on the spoiler, hes got one and if its any good il be adding it lol. Ive seen under the hood and theres quite alot of evidence of work, either way though it flies and barring anything major I still think its worth it even if its running 450 or so. Looking on pistonheads theres a vaguely similar one for £14k and this is much cheaper, hense my reservations about it, but im like a kid in a candy shop and cant stop being excited. Help me guys

Gaz Walker
1993 Toyota Supra mk4 JZA80 3L Single Turbo 5speed GZ Aerotop Come again?
grafter
lol was waiting for that. Basically its an auto box aerotop, thinks its the RZ?? Then had a GZ twin turbo lump and box fitted into it coz he wanted the aerotop look so bad but the GZ lump. Then spent a whole lot of money on a supra specialist up country to upgrade it all to 600bhp. I think thats the right way round?
Tom
single turbo Wez I think Wez is wondering if this is a non turbo converted to a turbo or single turbo converted TT lump
grafter
single turbo converted TT lump im led to believe
Wez
single turbo Wez Yeah but is it a TT or NA thats been converted. FYI the TT was never supplied with a 5 speed, only the NA which is why was asking

grafter
o god ok now im really out of it! cant recal him saying it was a mk3 box. was talking plenty about making the engine upto 1000bhp but didnt want that and was happy with it as is. But that could be just the engine side of things not the box engine pics....will do

But that could be just the engine side of things not the box engine pics....will do well it'll be intersting to know as the car would have started out as an auto non turbo aero (no JDM manual aero's ever existed) so who knows which 5 speed went in, quite suprising if it is the non turbo 5 speed box as it has obviously held up well, but it does depend on how it has been driven! Thorin
Sounds to me like it was originally an NA (SZ model), but has had the TT engine transplant. The 5 speed is not stronger than the 6 at all, and my money would be on it not lasting very long if those power levels are true. Can we see the "very long engine spec"? I don't even see what turbo it's supposedly running, and by "uprated internals" he might mean new spark plugs Sorry I'd avoid this one, things just don't ring true. edit: one more thing, 658bhp, but only running ~450bhp at the moment? Sounds iffy to me. Edited October 14, 2008 by Thorin (see edit history)
