Guest jamesthejames
I am installing a remote start/turbo timer in my car...I have dont this many times, but all have used a tach wire signal for letting the module know that its running. This unit requires a signal showing 12 volts when the engine is running. I have already run all the wires to the engine bay, and am wondering if anyone car lead my in the correct direction as to which and were such a wire can be found, please. +12 volt when engine running only. Thank you very much...im so tired of testing for correct wires...some help would be great.
dr_jekyll
run wire to the igniotion barrel switchable or you can even take an ignition feed fron the back of you radio.
Guest jamesthejames
ignition feed from said locations would show voltage when the ignition was on, would not mean the engine was actually running

Andy Blyth
According to Here, you should be able to get an appropriate signal by tapping into the Yellow/Green wire coming from pin 1 (L terminal) of the alternator. Looking at the schematic at the end of the PDF in the linked thread, this signal should be +12V when the alternator is running (i.e. engine is turning at above cranking speed). Hope this helps
Guest jamesthejames
tyre worx, i appreciate your help, i did not mean to come off as ungrateful, you need not hide under a rock Andy Blyth, thats exactly what I am looking for...but the alternator is almost impossible to get at without removing half the turbo piping and whatnot, do you by chance know where the wire is run in the engine compartment, thanks a lot. Chris Wilson
If you lift the fuse box cover Toyota have put a 6mm stud terminal marked "Remote start / turbo timer signal pulse". An eyeletted cable for it is in the glove box, with a suitable socket and 1/4 drive ratchet and extension. I know that's what you want to hear, but life can be *hit. Either roll your sleeves up and hack the alternator wiring or throw the damned gimmick in the Gatineau Personally ripping into the engine loom for such a gadget seems criminal... JustGav
You can normally get a harness which is meant for the car. There will more than likely be a pin off the ECU that you can use, however I'm inclined to agree with Chris, more to go wrong
