RedM
Recommend me some games. I tend to avoid the eye candy stuff. If the best thing about a game is the gfx then I'm not interested. Crysis for example. I'd just turn the settings down until it was super-fast and then get annoyed that it didn't last very long. I like 3D adventure type stuff. GTA, Bully and the like. That Alan Wake game looks promising. Actually, as long as there is a decent amount of game in there I'd be happy or even the chance to take it slow and explore everywhere will suffice. So, what should I look for now and look forward to in future. If it helps it needs to run on a 2ghz Core 2 Duo, 2gb ram and a Nvidia 8600M gfx card. Thank you. ozz
There are some good games due out end of October, early november. Not in the genres you have mentioned but I've pre-ordered C&C Red Altert 3. Looks very good. I really wish they would do another Generals version as I still play Zero Hour, in fact much more than the latest C&C. The new NFSU is out in November - looks like it harks back to the Most Wanted days, the only thing missing from that was damage physics and rumour has it the new one has that. If so, it will be awesome. They've added Jags and Audi as well. I didn't even bother installing the last NFS as the write-ups were so bad. Also, COD5 isn't far away. I was originally disappointed they were going back in time from COD4 (which was awesome) but it actually looks very good indeed. I think GTA is out shortly, if not already. I would have pre-ordered that but is just about the only game I play on my Xbox so doubt I'll bother with the PC version. Not really an xbox'er, prefer the PC but couldn't wait. Axle
I'd be happy or even the chance to take it slow and explore everywhere will suffice. You sound like my older brother. Soo frustrating.. Just go in guns blazing man and get on with it! Do you like management type games? If your into Football then the new Football Manager 2009 is out soon which now has a 3D game engine to watch the games.

Pete
Boring. The industry seems quite stale at the moment, the same old games redone with better graphics and slightly different weapons.
Axle
Boring. The industry seems quite stale at the moment, the same old games redone with better graphics and slightly different weapons. I thought that for a very long time. I dont play video games much anymore. Infact hardly at all, but im sure PC games was booming 5 to 10 years ago. Now it doesnt seem like there is an many releases as there used to be? Or am i completely wrong? Its a uneducated guess as i wouldnt know for sure being out of touch. Red Alert 3 - http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/redalert3/index.html?tag=result;title;0 Both out on 31st of October I would highly recommend Fallout 3 as the sort you would like. Its basically 100 years after Jericho (the TV series) but you use your brain and a gun..

Homer
- Call of Duty 5 (the gameplay looks incredible if the trailers are anything to go by) - GTA 4 coming on PC next month I think. Wasn't too keen on the PS3 version, but the PC one should have more life in it) - X3: TC (space sim with a bit of everything: strategy, trading, fighting and building an empire. It's open ended but is only for someone who likes to get involved in a game for longer than a few days/weeks) - Far Cry 2 - Duke nukem (haha!) RedM
Duke nukem There's more chance of me winning the lottery than there is of that EVER appearing. How long has it been now? 10, 12, 15 years? 2 Good ones I can't wait for: 1. Fallout 3 - http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/fallout3/index.html?tag=result;title;1 Fallout 3 has my eye. I hope it'll run okay on my PC though. Oh Another good game out soon is called Left4dead, Look it up on youtube, looks bloody $#@!ty thats for sure Co-op though isn't it? Unless I can play it on my own I won't bother however good a premise it is.
Angarak
If you like FPS games that arent linear like most other FPS games (ie: COD series) then you cant go wrong with Farcry 2. I've played FarCry 2 on the PC/XBox 360 in Montreal (Ubisoft invited me over). Its an awesome game and has loads of replayability potential. Based in fictional part of Africa, your a merc who is hired to kill an arms dealer, along the way you'll play 2 rival factions against each other. The Dunia engine that the game is based on gives you a real-time streaming vast open world to explore, its kind of like a mix between STALKER and Crysis, in that you have several means of achieving an objective, and you can do side missions along the way. Its not as photo-realistic as Crysis, but not far off and isnt as demanding as Crysis. The gameworld is immersive and the game is sure to be one of the biggest games of the year (if not THE game of the year). It also comes with a powerful yet easy to use Map Editor that requires no technical know-how, just creativity.
OhGod
Pretty much what others have mentioned; Red Alert 3 Farcry 2 Dawn of War 2 Flashpoint 2 and/or ArmA 2 Call of Duty 5 Starcraft 2! Can't believe no one has mentioned this. Fallout 3 GTA4 PC (already got PS3, but might get PC version if enough mates do for the MP side) Aliens: Colonial Marines These are the ones I've got my eye on, though as Pete says they're all sequals, nothing truly original. Some are next year - in the case of Starcraft I hear the beta isn't even out until early next year, so the full release could be in the latter half. Fallout 3 I've got my eye on, but it's by the same people who made Oblivion which I found a bit bland in it's original form. The way the whole world and loot levels with you spoiled the immersion and exploration for me somewhat. Why bother trekking to the other side of the map to find some dungeon when it'll just be filled with generic mobs matched to your level when you can pop to the one just around the corner and find exactly the same level mobs, with the same level loot. I preferred Morrowind where there were places that'd smack you silly at level 1, but you could manage at level 5, and breeze at 10. It helped, for me, with the sense of progression. bigbloodyturbo
Armed Assault 2 Opflash 2 i'll end up only liking one of the above and judging from my disappointment with arma 1, i'm guessing arma 2 may be a bit of a let down.
Ric
Are there any plans for the next Half-life soon? One of the best games series ever imo. Ep's or halflife 4? Episode 3 hopefully will not be toooo long away, although half life 4 is ment to be in the making also Halflife 3 is the 3 episodes, valve decided it would be better to release chunks rather than making punters wait 5-6years for hl3

RedM
I'm looking forward to Fallout 3 too Me too. It's exactly the sought of thing that I like. I can imagine that, months after it's release, people will have finished it every way imaginable and moved on, but I'll still be exploring every nook and cranny of the first city. I'm not kidding. It took me nearly six months to get to the second area of San Andreas. Proper explorer me....
