adi2009
Just a question. i m going in for a brand new GTE head, is it necessary to replace the valve lifters or can the old ones from the old head be used again??? Cheers
SimonB
Valve lifters? There aren't any, lifters are for pushrod engines. Do you mean the buckets? Do you not get them with the new head? You should be able to reuse them if they look ok. You'll need to re-shim.
TLicense
It depends, you'll need to measure the bucket (oddly still called lifters in the workshop manual!) bores and the buckets and see. The bores should be between 31.000 and 31.016mm and buckets should be between 30.966 and 30.976mm. You'll need to use a decent bore gauge and a micrometer to be able to measure it, a vernier caliper isn't going to cut it.
