reliable cheap run about needed

just found out today my workplace have changed the car park policy and i no longer qualify to park my car on site as of next monady nice they have game us plenty of notice, so i need a cheap car that will be left outside about a 10 min walk from where i work any ideas on what to get(would like it to look half decent).

Let me recommend a 1.6 GL polo! Great run around only downside is you only get bout 42mpg and the tank holds bout 10 gallons :(

Downsides? As Axle said, 42mpg sounds good for a 1.6 petrol engine. I'd expect mid to high 30s from that.

 

10 gallons (roughly 50 litres) isn't bad either. IIRC the supe's is only a bit bigger at 70 litres.

Its mainly motorway speeds you get 42mpg, urban probly mid to low 30s. There a crackin little car, ok so they handle like a shopping car but who cares. One in good nick and under 100k miles can still bring over a £1000 should you ever need to sell
