Scott
Try 'Event Horizon' if you like your horror with a sci-fi edge Exactly, a true horror doesn't have a happy ending in my opinion. Happy endings don't keep you awake at night wondering

j_jza80
How about either 'Bram Stokers Dracula' or 'the Fly'? 'Battle Royale' is a pretty nasty film too. (If you don't mind the subtitles)
jevansio
My fave is the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I'd never seen the original so was expecting a cheap shockfest remake. I was scared to death, Lee Ermey just gave me the creeps, watched it 2 nights off the trot I enjoyed it so much
Jezz
The fast and the furious.... Event horizon is great, as is House on haunted hill. I like films that mess with your head, clever horror films.

I was scared to death, Lee Ermey just gave me the creeps, watched it 2 nights off the trot I enjoyed it so much I just watched it for the scenes with Jessica Biel in a bit of a sweat I don't scare easily at the gore films, but psychological thrillers get to me more, as you may not see enough of the 'villain' etc., so it conjures up the terror in your mind rather than just showing you anything on screen. For a while, anyway
Gabriella
what about south korea film "A tale of two sister" from 2003 "!? or "Ju-on" -can be translated to mean The Curse or The Grudge and it was remade&americanizade in 2004 then release as "The Gurdge" the original is much effective ....classic horror!! "One missed call" shows some similitries to scary ghost stories past hollywood films from 1967 "Wait untill dark"-worth see both...
Dave17
The Thing, with Kurt Russell, the monster in that is pretty damned horrid!
Vicky
White noise was quite a good film, not overly scary though!
AndrewOW
..."The Gurdge"... "The Gurdge" does sound really very scary The Thing, with Kurt Russell, the monster in that is pretty damned horrid! A film that should definitely be remade IMO. Modern CGI effects and the original story would work very well indeed.

I still think for an 80's film the special effects really are something special, still give me a bit of a chill when i watch it on DVD! Kurt Russell pulls off the role really well, one of his best i think! Might also add "The Fly" in to the mix, pretty nasty monster at the end! The Fly was a good one, and The Fly 2 wasn't too bad either, as it was such a shame what they did to that poor doggy

AndrewOW
Can't remember what happened to a doggy, but i do remember in the first one a monkey turning inside out The dog was used in one of the corporation's experiments, and also was turned inside out. He also was a right mess, unfortunately, but Eric Stolz's character (The Fly) looked after him, and at the end, as the Fly, he threw the bad big boss man into its den to be eaten alive. Remember now? Na, he killed the dog himself to put it out of its misery. He then put the big bad boss man through the machine, with him, at the end turning him into the new "pet" feeding on the slops, leaving eric's character normal.
