blackdrift
Right Gave my car a good clean last night (including under the engine bay) and was carefull not to get any electrical bits wet, took for a drive for around 30mins fine no problem, leave it over night, go to start it in the morning and it is running like a bag of S*it. Its got a slight missfire that you can hear on idle and notice/hear whilst driving. i have taken a part the apexi air filter and all the pipes leading to the inlet manifold and no sign of water or anything. I have no engine warning light so cant get a fault code and have left it in the hot sun all day. Any help verry much welcome as i dont even know if i should realy be driving it still Cheers carl
Rayman
Did you hose the engine down?
Nic
Sounds like you have got water into the plugs and it's now not running on all cylinders. Remove engine cover and blow out any water around the plugs and coil packs/leads with compressed air. If NA, also makes sure the distributor and connections are dry, a quick spray with WD40 will also help.
blackdrift
thanks i will try it now and yes it is NA sounds like a imprezza boxer engine now if you know what i mean is it still ok to drive to work with this missing?
Robzki
have left it in the hot sun all day. Cheers carl As above really. but on a more important note how did you manage to find hot sun?....in Dorset
JustGav
Sounds like you have got water into the spark plug gulley... To be honest, the only way to really do it is to take the manifold off and get an airline in there and blow all the water off, and no it won't evaporate off over time
blackdrift
thanks guys suspected plugs or leads but didnt realy fancy checking the plugs if i didnt need to, didnt realise the plugs had so much recess. What a shit tho, taking all that off to change the plugs lol wont be doing that again in a hurry. thanks again
ilicos
Same happened to me this weekend. I read this and dreaded the thought of having to go to all that trouble and then find a compressor on top!!! Anyway, needed to go out last night so took the Supra and after about 20 mins driving the juddering and missfires started getting less frequent. So I decided to keep driving and after another 10-20 minutes the car was its usual torque-y self. JustGav scared me by saying that it would not evaporate over time but I assume with that heat, the water had to once the engine was running at temperature. As I said, Just and update;)
