Search only yielded how to put it back together again, which rather strangely doesn't help! Didn't want to break anything (else) so asking on here how they come apart. Ta all. The cig lighter need the small flaps pushed in and it will then drop out. You can see a flap on the cig lighter pic you uploaded. Hope thats of some help.... Once you remove the dimmer knob there will be a nut holding the dimmer in place. Yes, it has tabs of sorts, but I don't think they're designed to ever be used by anything bigger than microscopic fingers. I had to use matchsticks to jam them in, and it took AGES.
