StuartW
Okay i blew 2nd gear on my getrag and have a breaking tt auto with all the bits sat here inc rad, box, prop, stick shift. extra oil trans cooler My car also has an auto dash and engine wiring loom;) The idea is to keep the car on the road whilst getrag parts are obtained (Told 6 week or more wait) Bare in mind i have never driven an supra auto! A few Q's i could do with answering 1 What hp/torque will the std auto box and torque convertor take? 2 Whats the weakest link TC or oil cooling? 3 Will AEM pro run auto easilly? Does anyone have an 550hp supra running aem auto? maybe i could even improve on my full weight PB Drag ET:eyebrows: Cheers

Wez
AEM and a 550hp motor on a stock auto box, hmmmm, might last about an hour
Darragh
would it not be easyier just to get yourself a cheap run around while you are waiting on your box to get fixed? just an idea
tooquicktostop
My car ran AEM on a stock auto with additional cooler for quite some time, it was putting out 550 BHP on full boost, it did start slipping in the end but if you have to only get through a few months it might be ok, it will need the additional cooling I would avoid launches also as this will kill the box
JustGav
Get a 5spd and take your foot off pedal 90% of the time?
StuartW
would it not be easyier just to get yourself a cheap run around while you are waiting on your box to get fixed? just an idea I am just really bouncing ideas about. I have an audi tdi daily driver. Just hate it when sup is off road as it is always when something comes up like the best day in the universe to go for a drive! I will probably just stick with the plan of re-building the getrag, Mainly as the main entisement for going auto would be to beat my pb drag time. As "Too quick to stop" says big launches will kill box Quickly. Its the sort of info i need to make my descisions;)

StuartW
Get a 5spd and take your foot off pedal 90% of the time? been there and killed it after 200 miles (5 high boost runs) Also doesnt the 5 speed run a N/A clutch or a mk3 turbo clutch? I had the W58 5 speed?

Nodalmighty
Go on euro dragster and get yourself a second hand power glide. Then go to Castlemaine rod shop and buy a 2JZ to powerglide kit. If you fit a GV gear splitter to the Power Glide you can have 4 speeds and a decent overdrive for road driving. You then go to Dave Mac in Cov and get a single piece prop made to suit. Expect to pay 3.5k and enjoy a 2000bhp capable transmission. Have a chat with Andy Frost at Penn autos he'll be able to manage the whole project. Lyndon. Homer
You'll have an issue with the trans tunnel if you try and use an auto that has the manual trans plate. The auto shifter won't fit so you'll need to do some fabrication to get it to work.
StuartW
Cheers for the comments. I am not planning to go mad with the GT35R supra, although interesting to have contact details for powerglide. I already have a 2000hp 2 speed powerglide in my drag project (See link in sig) With custom prop made by houser race cars. Interesting thoughts on the splitter for powerglide. Anyone have anymore info on where to obtain one? I already have the billet 2Jz to Powerglide adapter plate but do need to obtain a TC. My tranny tunnel is modified in the drag car (Quite heavilly) to make the 10mm clearance on powerglide. Homer thanks for the heads up on the chassis difference on Auto and manual tunnel (Never noticed or thought about it!) Cheers

The torque converter is the most important part of the whole deal. Talk to Andy Frost at Penn Auto's, he's the UK's Power glide transmission and Torque converter Jedi. See: Red Victor One Next you'll be needing the 2000bhp 2JZ - So see GAS Motorsport in OZ http://www.gasmotorsport.com.au Lyndon.
