na/t tuning ?

i have just installed a turbo to my ge motor ,

i will only be running at 7 psi on standard injectors and head gasket,

i currently have have an apexi safc and innovate motorsports wideband to adjust my fueling but the ge map sensor keeps standing in my way wen it starts to boost ,

i replaced the ge map sensor with gte map sensor and now the car boost but is dangerously lean from idle to redline ,

so can anybody sugest a new different method of tuning the car , or a way of making what i have work , all input would be valued ,

ps the car is a jdm 94 5 speed manual,

You can't really expect to tune an N/A to a turbo with an SAFC, you would be far better off using an Emanage ultimate, or blue at a pinch, with the Greddy MAP sensor, that way you stand a chance of not blowing up you're engine;), you need to consider that the std N/A timing is also all wrong for a boosted engine.

i have reset the timeing to 10 btdc as i belive thet is the best time ing for the ge wen turbod , i thaught the safc was a bad idea, as im am not lookin for big power 330rwhp would be fine , what other parts would i need with the blue , aprt from the map sensor ,

the car has a full 3inch stainless with no cats so i think 330 is well achievable at 7 psi with the right tuning

also how can i find out if the car is obd1 or 2 ?

You're problem is you are in kind of lucky dip territory with the timing just retarded, as the N/A timing advance map will be completely different from a boosted engine, so if you just retard it enough to be safe from det ( and i doubt that will be the case anyway) you are going to loose out on power, so my advice would be to spend a bit more and get the EMU and sensor, then at least you have proper fuel + and - unlike the blue, and timing control.

And that :) (Was trying to work out how to word it subtly )

for 7 psi with a standar compression ratio would larger injectors really be nescasary , what would i gain from them ?

They may well stop you losing your engine, 7psi should give you around 340fly which will be right on the edge for the standard injectors if not a bit too far.

thanking you all for your input , by emu + sensoor do you mean emanage ultimate with map sesor , ?

Yes! and the larger injectors are also a very good idea, i was under the impression that the 10deg timing figure you mentioned was retarded, if this is std then you are playing with fire with 7psi of boost.

i know the max you can have on stock h/g and injectors is 9 psi wich can give aorund 340 bhp to the wheels if tuned correctly at 10 deg btdc, so at 7 psi at 10deg before i shouldnt have any detination issues aslong as i can get my afr right , last time i checked i was around 190 on all 6,

What was the 'BTDC' degree mark at before you changed it to 10d? I've seen people mention on clubna-t that its preset to 0. I know for a fact mine is at 10 BTDC. Several people who are not turbo'd and have screwed up their timing reset back to 10 and had no problems but thats fine tuning with a timing light and setting the distributor till idle drops.

190 afr? i rather think not old boy.

What AFR guage are you using to tune this beast on the SAFC?

190 was the cylinder compression test results.

my afr is fluctuates between 14.7 down to 11.3 at the moment but that irevlivant becuase the map sensor will not let me boost

i am using an innovate lc1 with the db guage, and the old black box style safc , but thats going in the bin
