Guest Budz86
Following on from this thread I have just changed my fan belt but I'm still getting the sqeaking noise. It really does sound like a belt, but only does it under load. It's not the loudest noise in the world, but you can hear it when the stereo isn't on. I'm thinking it may be the clutch or gearbox Does this noise suggest that? If not, what else is it likely to be? All help/comments appreciated. Thanks Dean Edited October 8, 2008 by Budz86 Update on problem (see edit history)

simbasupra
Do you know if it is definately coming from the belt area? If not then i would get a mate to listen under the bonnet whilst you replicate the noise. I take it you can do it whilst the vehicle is stationary? If it is coming from the belt area then i would remove the belt and try again but only for a short period of time. If the noise goes then it will be one of the pulleys etc that are driven by the belt.

If so, I'll do that. Also thought it could be wheel bearings! But hopefully I'm just getting ahead of myself here!
Guest Budz86
Right, I just tried this and doesn't sound like it's making the noise. But when I'm driving I can still hear it! Any idea's folks?
Pig
Sorry if this sounds silly but are you sure its not boot rubbers?
Guest Budz86
Does sound a bit silly but stupidly enough I can't say it's not for certain! lol I never thought about it being boot rubbers so never thought to check them! Is there a way of checking these or any idea how much they are to replace?

Guest Budz86
Not yet, havn't been out in it. Seems to be doing it both cold and hot from what I remember though. And it does seem intermitant although it's happening more and more
Guest Blitzed
I had a squeaky noise which was irritating like yours when i had my supra, it used to do it when i was reversing to, it was the crank shaft pulley that was goosed
