The Raven
i will try a can tell u that:( Thats the main thing, When it happened to me i felt like just giving up the sooner you can snap out of that the better. Do what i did and apply for everything even jobs you might think are below you, Better to have some money coming in than none. Phone your morgage people and explain the issues 9 times out of 10 you will be able to deffer payment for a few months. best of luck mate i know just how you feel. Paul
Tell me more PM if you like. My mum worked for years in the industry for a trade aluminium supplier and when I mentioned this to her a little while ago she said remembers him starting up in plastic/upvc windows and met him several times. marc_p
Same thing happened to me mate, i've been unemployed for over a month now but now have a job in the RAF. I've found it really hard finding a decent job as they're all going bust while you apply!!! You kept that quiet(or am I being forgetful?), what are you doing in the RAF? Gutted for you anyway Tom. SilverSoop
if i didnt have 2 kids and a mrgage to pay i would definately think about the army/raf/navy etc It still may take a while to get into the Forces, I think the RAF takes about 8 months in total DEPENDING on which job you would like to do. I want to go into the Aircrew but that takes longer as I have to an interview, another interview with the fitness and aptitude tests which takes 3-4 days and another special interview with a Squadron leader/Wing Commander... I know this because I am going to apply next year to the RAF so I hope I get in... Not sure about the other 2 though. However, the Navy is similar in timescale's I believe... Good luck to you, I am going through exactly the same thing atm, but I am just waiting on security clearance as I will be working at MoD Boscombe Down... My bills are getting higher and higher but I have no cash to pay the bills with! I hope they call soon with a start date!!
sdavies
Was with company that owed me 3 months+ pay, then they declared bankruptcy - got £2700 out of the government in an attempt to help - max they would pay out! (Because new company took on old debts they taxed it lol), New company bought everything taking on old debt, wonderful - now they have failed to pay for two months (actually only just paying up one month so one month again recently - giving me 3.2months owed consistently for the past 5-6+ months!!) - I have been in a state of constant buggery for some time, but have been able to weather the storm... guess where my other halfs savings were that were keeping us afloat?.. Icesave.. woot!
Syed Shah
Sorry to here about that. With kids, Xmas not far away. Real sh*tty time. All the best to yourself/others in finding new work. It is always the average guy who suffers from these things.
Dazzi
You kept that quiet(or am I being forgetful?), what are you doing in the RAF? Gutted for you anyway Tom. Decided I want a bit of security job wise, as all the other jobs I applied for went bust shortly after! Transferring to the States will be a breeze for me now. Ring Sash UK up and become an estimator for them??? Not too far from you is it If you do ring them, mention Mark Woodall (My uncle, one of the top managers) and if you get a chance to speak to him tell him you're my friend. Let me know what happens and I'll speak to him nicely at the weekend. best of luck
