Gaz6002
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7656602.stm I'm not a big fan of this idea at all. Imagine the connotations.
Mike
what if you're getting chased by a murderer? a huge out of control truck? or that thing from Creeper? surely 80mph is going to get you killed? Let the kids drive it like they stole it... it's the only way they will learn.
Charlotte
That's scary, how can they know if it's a kid or not, do they do a shoe size measurement?
Whitesupraboy2
Its down to the key. I think its a good idea if its just a speed limiter and not a power limiter. sometimes power can get you out of trouble as well as into it!
AlanM
That's scary, how can they know if it's a kid or not, do they do a shoe size measurement? Presumably you know, when you give them the keys What next, gets worse by the day
Mike
sometimes power can get you out of trouble as well as into it! Like with the Creeper, my point entirely.
Charlotte
Like with the Creeper, my point entirely. Yeah I think perhaps we're actually talking 'real life'...just a hunch.
Mike
Yeah I think perhaps we're actually talking 'real life'...just a hunch. Are you telling me he doesn't exist in real life then? so I probably don't need to keep locking my doors and driving really fast everywhere? (yes, I'm a bit ill today and very *very* bored)
JustGav
Hmmmm, tough one As a driver, the idea puts me off completely.. it is my car and I will drive it like I so wish... HOWEVER as a parent I can't help but think WOW what a good idea.
AlanM
But if they can't get their kicks by going 20 mph over the limit on the motorwy/dc, they will go 20 mph over in a 30 ,,,, maybe
Soop Dogg
Corvettes had a similar thing years ago. I think it was on the C4 ZR1 in about 1993 where it had a 'valet mode'. If you gave the car to the valet parking attendant at hotel/casino etc (or if you gave it to the garage for servicing) you could set the valet mode which reduced the power output to a mere 300bhp. I didn't think it was a bad idea TBH.
Mike
..always with the Corvettes
Gaz Walker
Its a nifty idea. However it will only get one chance to work, as when the kids know they are limited, they will just take mummies or daddies keys instead
razza
you could set the valet mode which reduced the power output to a mere 300bhp. just the 300 lol:D you would've thought valet mode restricts it to 10mph
