Charlotte
I don't drink at all, well rarely. I haven't considered more water though. Why would that help, except guarantee I need to get up half way through the night?

Alex
Are you anemic? (Low iron levels?) If you pull your bottom eyelids down are they red or white inside? They should be red...white is an indicator that you are anemic (but not absolute proof). Tea (especially green tea) can stop you taking on Iron which the body needs especially for you ladies during that time of the month. Unbroken sleep is the other key, you must relax BEFORE going to bed, if you're still rushing around and then hop into bed you won't sleep properly. Don't drink for an hour before going to bed, you should have drunk enough already during the day....if you drink before bed, chances are you'll need to loo in the night. Light sleeper in a noisy place? (flat) Ear plugs?
stevie_b
Make sure you're not too stimulated before bed: no TV. If you can, reduce the lighting level mayeb half an hour before bed: I've read somewhere that this tells the brain it's time to sleep soon. I find reading a novel puts me in a sleepy state. Charlotte
I feel like I have loads of excess energy just before bedtime (which makes me think I haven't got anemia - although there are certain times of the month when I'm very fainty). I have tried reading and stuff too, nothing seems to help. My flat is noisey and there are lights outside the bedroom that don't go off until well after 12am. And then the alarm clock of next door goes off from 6am repeatedly until 8am. Grr.

And then the alarm clock of next door goes off from 6am repeatedly until 8am. Grr. Ah. That's quite anti-social. There's no need for an alarm to be going off for 2 hours. Can you have a word with your neighbours about it? Explain to them that it makes you tired during the day, would they be able to turn the alarm volume down or reduce the time it goes off for, etc etc. I know that approach can be a real rats' nest now that most people get uber-defensive if you ask them to do anything, but it's a suggestion... chris burford
Good hydration plenty of water, you should drink 2 litres when you wake up. Do you eat a good breakfast as that signals the body that its time for action. listen to some slower beat music before sleep lol (James Blunt) that should do it to help you sleep. Wind down before shutting down! ( you wouldnt drive a tt soop balls out for 2 hours then pull into your drive and turn it straight off would you) Eat some soft cheese (stilton) if you like it, has been proven to cause the release of the sleep chemical. A couple of hours before bed though. Central heating can cause you not too sleep properly and make you feel like s@!t when you wake. Hope some of that helps. tbourner
Is it the noises and stuff waking you up? Or do you actually sleep for 8 hours? Or do you just mean you're in bed for 8 hours? If you are going to bed regularly and sleeping for long enough (more than 6 hours is generally enough), and if you wake up with an alarm clock which I'm guessing you do, I'd suggest going to bed an hour later! Seriously, try it for a few nights.
Whitesupraboy2
On serious note, Sex seems to mean I get a good night sleep and feel good next day. I have no idea if this medically proven or whether its just a placebo lol this obviously means you have to start early evening or you'll be up all night and more tired lol
