supra_si
Basically guys my new rad should arrive tomorrow and i need it on asap, Is it a fairly straight forward DIY Job or should i get a qualified mechanic to do it and pay him for the privilege. Ive had a look on a fitting guide and ive seen one that has given me the faith to have a go but i dont wanna fudge it up.

heckler
ok thanks and i need 10 ltrs dont I? think so.... but that only if you drain the whole system, i didnt, only the radiator - I bunged up the lower rad pipe
supra_si
yeh i think il drain the full lot into a bucket. I guess the cost of the coolant would be the cost of getting a mechanic/mate to do it for me so a little saving and i get to be hands on with the car at last. Thats what I said to myself about my single conversion. saved myself who knows how much in labour, and i reckon i did it faster too - 14 hrs . I kept the tea/food breaks to a minimum i.e. none! Kirk
Draining the entire system is worth it, just find all the draining nipples on the block, rad etc! I can't say I've used the 4 life coolant, is it premixed with distilled water already?? Posted via Mobile Device

Homer
It's a easy 30 minute job even for an amatuer, you'll be fine Don't bother with Toyota4life, just get a basic glycol based antifreeze and use that, it's a fraction of the cost and does the same job. Homer
any suggestions homer? and mix ratios Halfords/motor factors glycol based coolant, it's normally ready mixed. It's about £4 for 5 litres instead of £15 from Toyota.
Homer
im getting a direct replacement specifically for an auto box so fingers crossed it will be a straight swap. if not il be in tears Bit more tricky on the auto as you have the oil cooler to sort out. Make sure you top up the box oil afterwards.

Thorin
Easy job. There's a very helpful thread here which should be added to the Technical Reference section IMO http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=83646 Took me a fair bit longer than half an hour, but would certainly take a lot less if I were to do it again.
