Guest skans789
Hello There, Ive just got a Supra Twin Turbo UK Spec, Ive got a slight problem with the second turbo not kicking in, when i give it full throttle the first turbo kicks in fine, but the second turbo does not kick in, (our i think it might be kicking in but running out of steam quickly). There is also a loud WOOOSHH noise when the turbo is supposed to be kicking in, it doesnt make the noise when the first turbo is doing its work, any suggestions would be great or somewere in birmingham to take it to so i can find a soloution, any help will be much apprieciated. Thanks
SilverSoop
Hi, you mentioned a loud whistle?? I have the same except with my 1st tubby. When I go to boost and am ay 2500 rpm and 0.5/0.6 bar, I get the BOV spooling and at that same moment, another noise occurs which I can only describe as a whistling noise and as soon as I let off the throttle, I get a 'squeak' like noise... Is this the same sort of symptom?? If not, do you have any ideas as to what it could be??

Thanks IC pipe blown off or leaking is most likely. Have a very good look around the pipework and any lose connections, especially around the IC area. Shane, your issue is different to this. Eibach lowering springs, greddy front mount intercooler, blitz boost controller, greedy boost cut controoller, apexi induction with air filter, full stailess decat exhaust system, i will go out and check if all the intercooler pipes are connected. thanks

Thanks I have to say this sounds to me like a leak in the Main Intercooler related piping or the IC itself. Most probably it only shows itself under the more extreem pressure/air flow you develop with both Tubs kicking in, but is just about holding with the one. Do check all your intercooler Piping, connections, and moreover the IC itself, I had the ends blow off one of my IC's once, however this was not a Supra, it was a MG MONTEGO Turbo, anyone remember them???? Guest skans789
nice one mate will try that now, if anyone could down and have a look at it, it would be very much apprieciated, i can also sort a little dough out for them for there troubles, thanks
Guest skans789
had a look around and cant find any pipes or hoses split, intercooler piping is all attached properly, when you rev the car on stand still to about 3500-4000 the acurator moves down but when you let go it dont go back up after straightway, takes a few moments then goes up, is this normal or could it be a bit sticky. mikeyb10supra
If its only happening when your 2nd turbo is coming in I would be looking at the vac lines that control number 2 for a possile leak
Guest skans789
the person i bought it off has told me its the second turbo that its not working, now thinking about what he said the whistling sound sounds like the turbo just spinning?? little num
hi skans im from stourbridge and if you want i will come and take a look at your car, see if i can spot anything as i also have a uk car manual, first thing first is to see what boost your intake is recieving, maybe get a boost gauge or somthing setup, then once you can see what boost your getting then find the fault. Guest skans789
Hello mate that would be much apprieciated, well the cars got a boost gauge in it, think it might be the standard one but not sure. Il send you a PM now. Thanks
Stevie Boy
If your getting loud whooshing, as you say, when the boost builds up, sounds to me like a boost leak like Homer said. Doubt it's an issue with vsv/vac line as it sounds like 2nd is trying to do it's thing. Fact that it has an aftermarket FMIC probably increases the possiblity of a boost leak from one of the many pipe joints if a hose clamp was not done up sufficiently or correctly when it was fitted. Guest skans789
Yeh i know where your coming from but the previous owner who had it goes he had it checked out by a company called Thorn and they said somethink in the turbo was wrong, and most people i have asked (tuning companys) say boost leak, or acutrator problems, i dont want to buy a new turbo then find out its not the turbo. i might be going to get it checked out by BC tuning in walsall this thurday he goes he will charge me but will find out what the definate problem is?? Guest skans789
So does it need a new turbo??
dan4
i wouldnt advise driving it if it is turbo at fault then you have options: buy a set of twins go single recondition units if they are serviceable
