Help!!! I have an odd noise coming from my Supe's engine!!!

Hi all, now i have a really weird noise coming from my engine bay. It's really hard to describe but when you hear the spool from the BOV,

you then can another noise like a whistling/howling noise and when you let off of the throttle, it makes a 'squeak' like noise...

It was doing it all the time but a bit louder until it went back to AFR as it started just after getting my supe serviced.

I asked Matt what it could be but they couldn't locate thae noise as it mysteriously dissapeared and now, it has returned and im very concerned

as to what it is...

Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas as to what it could be???

Its not a gearbox noise is it? any chance you could upload a sound file

No it's not a gearbox noise, it's definetely coming from the engine when it's under load and happens when spooling up to the 1st tubby...

Sorry to sound stupid, how do i do that as it has got to be when i am driving because otherwise, it won't do it...

might just be a boost leak then check your bov hoses for splits and check all vacuum lines etc...

Ok will do but the strange thing is, it wasn't hapening before it went into the garage and now it is, why??

The vac lines look ok, i can't see anything to suggest that there is a leak BUT on my BOV there is a bit of oil...

Hmm thanks Vil but I just don't know what the hell it is! As i said before, it only started happening after the service she had.

When it is spooling, you hear another noise which kind of whistles (not as bad as before as it went back to AFR) and then when you left off the throttle, it 'squeaks'.

It happens at 0.5/0.6 bar and at 2500 rpm...

Get that BOV changed mate, preferably for a stock one ;)

Im going with an HKS ssqv BOV, so we'll see if that is it...:)

shane, you have the same BOV as me, if its wound out to soft, it will squeek. mine does, and it will do it for some time after you take your foor off. I did it for a laugh.

try increasing the spring tention on the BOV

Spring tension??

Where is that on the bov??

The thing is, it wasn't doing it before so why now??

Or do you mean try it with another setting??

The thing is, i'm not so sure that it is the bov because, when the 1st tubby is spooling, you can hear the bov doing the same and then a different noise occurs...

like a whistling and then after you let your foot off, it 'squeaks'...

Does this sound like the bov to you or something else??

its on the top of the BOV, a nut and allen key. mine squeeks, but thats because its set soft. Just incease the tension by screwing it in. may make a difference

Ok cheers Si, how far to I turn it though??

When yours is set to 'soft' do you get an odd noise like a whistling noise when it is on spool up??

screw it in all the way, well as far as you think it will go in. can't really hear my bov when the turbo spools, that alone makes too much noise ;)
