Guest Garfy
I've got a a metalic type knocking coming from my nearside rear under hard acceleration, and I'm also finding that when conering hard to the right it feels like something on that nearside rear is giving, or moving. I've got TRD Bilstien Shocks, with SARD Lowered Springs, I've had the geometry set up and then re checked by a well known and respected company, I've had a look at all the bushes, levered them all and can't find anything obviously wrong, and so has the respected company. I know this is going to be almost imposible to diagnose online, but has anyone else experianced something similar, or what would you suggest I concentrate my suspisions on? the noise sounds like something on the suspension is moving to allow a metal to metal contact, which is then transmiting noises through the car and into the cabin, it only happens when acceleration really hard over a non flat surface. SUPRALOOPY
Check your zaust. As the car moves the zaust could be touching the underneath of the car. That would transmit engine noise and vibration through the car. If you have checked all the bushes and still getting noise check the top mounts of the suspension. As you said Impossible to diagnose online but thats my shot anyway..LOL
bodilx6
This might be stupid but worth a shot; I had my in-trunck jack slightly touching the rear end and allowing a "thunk" once in a while.
Guest Garfy
I thought it was the zorst at first, but I've changed it, and its still doing it, and while it was up on the ramp today I had a damn good push about with it, its defo not hitting. Its not the jack either, thats on the other side. thanks for the suggestions though
SUPRALOOPY
You are not that far from me if you fancy a drive down I'll have a look for you. If I can't find it at least you know who I am. LOL

Chris and Alana
Iv been told (when I was getting my bushes checked for noise) that if you get a knock under acceleration it could very well be the bushes for the diff mounts. Mine turned out to be the shocks that were buggered but mine only happened when I went over a bump.
Guest Garfy
the diff mounts does seem like a good place to start, they again have been checked though, and seem fine, do you think they would cause the handling problem though?
adnanshah247
i had a small knocking sound coming from the back of my supra as well, turned to be a moving brake pad. every time i pull of or slow down i can here a knock were the brake pad was moving..... Supra-Brett
Ive got a rattling at the rear as well, and my handling is very very bad (nearside rear also giving way). Rattles every time i go over a bump. Its not the boot rubbers as these have been done, but my mechanic says the rear nearside shock and opposite side upper susp arm need doing so that appears to at least be the cause of the poor handling. Once i have the new ones fitted i will let you know if the rattling dissapears also.

Guest Garfy
avtually, listening to it more this morning, It might be movement in the gearbox tunel you know, what could that mean?
miko_supra
check your engine mounts, gearbox mounts, prop shaft mounts, subframe bolts etc... might be the diff. I had a severe knocking every now and again and it was a seized handbrake shoe.
