mathew
im also in the market for a tv and i spotted an LG tv in currys the other day, 46 inch iirc, and the screen went almost to the edge of the tv (it didnt have your usual surround bit) because of this theres potential for me to have a 46inch instead of a 42inch fit on the stand that i have bought. but yeah anyway id like to see what everybody else recommends
Kirk
I've seen a toshiba like this! the border is 1cm all the way round, the rest is the screen. So basicaly your gettin a 46" in a 42" body Posted via Mobile Device
Supradk84
PDP-LX508D KURO model from Pioneer is the best Plasma on the market, other than that Panasonic Plasma Just as I would have said it. Please do not buy samsung or lg, if you have the money for a Pioneer plasma or say panasonic plasma. Do that. They have the best quality picture on the market! Ask any tv expert! Scott
I think you both missed the part where he said he's willing to spend £1200 max. Not £3k. Panasonic is 'only' 1200. I just got the flagship 50" for less than £1600. The one below it is almost as good for around £1200. 42" flagship - linky 50" Next one down - linky Both within budget. Edit: 46" available for less than 1k http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-TH-46PZ80B-Widescreen-Plasma-Freeview/dp/B0015M0OR6

Stevo
I know LCD technology is improving all the time, but at that size - i.e. 46" and above, Plasma still rules the roost for picture quality. Better blacks, less noise/digital artifacts and, to a lesser extent, better colours. As has been said Pioneer and Panasonic are 2 of the best - even for LCD screens and not just £3k plasmas. A HUGE consideration with that size of LCD is how close will you be sitting to it? The closer you are, the more likely you are to notice pixellation etc. Have a good look round on Michael's link to avforums. Oh.....and shop around on the net - ebuyer etc. before deciding to buy from Curry's, Comet etc...
