Dazzi
I had the inlet manifold off while changing the plugs and to see if I could spot any problems with the inlet manifold. When I was about to put everything back together I noticed this: Plastic nipple has snapped off in the vacuum tubing leaving the vacuum open This vacuum seems to be hooked up to this 'sensor assy. vacuum' sensor.... So do I need to buy a new one of these plastic things? Or can I plug the hole? Arrrrghh Edited October 3, 2008 by Dazzi (see edit history)

Dazzi
Did you change a inlet gasket when you take that off ? On my pics above I took the inlet off where the V turns attaches to the 6 inlets. This gasket is made out of metal so no need to change. Supra-Brett
The idle on my N/A is about 700 to 800 when warm. Just lately as the weather has got colder its moved to almost 2000 until the engine has warmed up fully, at which point its back to 600 to 700. Now i know the revs are higher when cold, but this sounds too high. Is it OK ?
supradriver
yeah its sound. mine is the same
Kirk
Pretty much all toyotas I've worked on when starting from cold idle around 2000. Perfectly fine Posted via Mobile Device
Dazzi
Start up from cold varies alot. In the cold damp weather mine idles at 1800 for a few minutes then drops, in the summer it usually drops shortly after start up.
supradriver
i dont use mine often. but when i do it revs high for a bit.
Bender
This gasket is made out of metal so no need to change. Hmm when I change my r/cover gasket and I take off inlet I change that gasket as well. I ask few people and they told me if you take any gasket off you shold be replace for new one so I changed for piece of mind

Strange thing is though that all newer cars i drive dont seen to idle high when cold at all, but older cars do. Will newer cars start to idle higher in cold weather as they get older ?
