TonyP
Which garage do you trust with your Supra? I really need to find someone local who really knows the car inside out.
juanchan
I'd go with ToyodaTech if you're looking fairly locally. They're just north of Fareham and I've seen them recommended on here several times.
AndyT
As Richie above says. Servicing only though, I've heard they don't do mods. Toyota GT or AFR or LeeP are they only other recommendations.
juanchan
There's also the place Ewen recently had his BPU done, but I can't remember their name (Sorry for the high level of helpfulness in this post)
Mike
Another vote for Toyda (for servicing)
ivan
I use Triton on B'mth Airport West estate for servicing.
Ewen
I've used Hughes for servicing in the past, no problems at all. http://www.hughesworkshop.co.uk/about.htm These days I use Triton Motorsport, no problems to date. http://www.tritonmotorsport.com/showpage.php?id=index_cont Niether are Supra specialists, but at least Triton have a track record with performance Subarus and they have a rolling road. I've heard bad things about a lot of garages mentioned on this site. Yes it depends on what work you want done, and to some extent how far you want to travel. My level of expectation is servicing, MOT and recently BPU, and I'm happy with whats been done to date...if I ever looked to more specialised work, I would travel further afield. TonyP
Thanks for all the advice. I don't need anything particularly specialised I just want to find a garage that can diagnose what's wrong with my car and fix it! Trouble is it's not really drivable over any real distance due to overfuelling and stalling every time you stop. Haven't had a lot of luck with the garage it's at now. caseys
I can't fault the guys at Triton myself, I've had my NA and my single serviced there for years, good blokes. Recently had my crank pulley go and they sorted it out pretty quickly. Overfuelling and stalling when you stop? Is it a quick stop? o2 sensor issue? Maybe the stalling is it's running too rich, you let off the throttle and so the engine dips revs to compensate for the overfuelling. I'd have said it was a MAF/MAP issue, but I assume yours is a J-spec being an N/A Aerotop. Speak to the guys at Triton, they're meant to have reasonable experience at mapping so should be able to help with the overfuelling diagnosing. That's exactly it. Maybe I'll give them a ring tomorrow see if they can have a look at it.
caseys
I'm wondering why it's overfuelling so much though, my guess is an o2 sensor issue as I assume here that you're running a stock setup with stock ECU as it's N/A. It's not sensing the right air mix and so bunging too much fuel in, the ECU I guess is overcompensating because of it. Are you also getting lousy economy? Has it ever stalled when throttle is WOT / open or only occurs when the throttle's shut? i.e Have you tried pulling away in 1st gear, WOT to 3-4k rpm then pull right off the throttle and it'll stall? Or have you had the injectors changed recently? Wrong flow etc. Did you change anything on it then the problem started occurring I wonder. Talk to Andy there, he's the guy that works on mine all the time and done my servicing for the last 5 years. P.S if your car's lowered at all then the speedbumps on the airport industrial estate may induce a little scraping as they're savage. SoundWave
I've used ToyodaTech for my services for the past 18 months after a recommendation from a member here and had no real complaints. They did appear to miss that my crank pulley was on it's way out though, after I told them I'd heard a strange sqwealing noise... but when it did go they were quick to fit me in and fix it (The AA took it straight there and I had it back in a week) Would like to find somewhere a bit closer though. Have been to Triton for one of their rolling road days and it looks like a nice garage but have heard varying reviews about them. I might give them a go but Toyoda know my car and its history now. I was using a japanese car specialist in Dorchester (can't remember their actual name) but they messed up on my brakes once (left the anti-squeel shims out) and werent that quick to put it right I so didn't go back again. ivan
That's OK if you're out in the sticks - hardly Poole/Bournemouth though.
