TonyP
Following on from this thread about my car overfuelling it is back at my local garage again with the same problem, and has been there for 4 weeks now! The problem is no-one can read the fault codes. They've tried two different diagnostic machines, tried to read them manually and have even resorted to taking it up the local Toyota garage and even they can't do it. Anybody have any ideas why the codes can't be read? The mechanic has suggested that it could be a problem with the ecu but without the fault codes the only option I seem to have is to start replacing random parts until the problem is fixed which could get very expensive. Any help would be greatly appreciated or if anyone can recommend a specialist in the Bournemouth/Poole area as the local garage have pretty much admitted that they are out of their depth with this. The car is a JDM N/A Auto. Thanks Tony
JustGav
Have you tried bridging the two ports on the diag port in the engine bay, if you do a search on here you will find the error code listings. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=35920 Does your engine management light come on when you go to ignition? TonyP
Have you tried bridging the two ports on the diag port in the engine bay, if you do a search on here you will find the error code listings. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=35920 Yes. I tried that before I took it to the garage and they've also tried. I have seached the threads regarding error codes but haven't found any reference to not being able to read them at all. They have tried every way at their disposal to read them without any success.
Ian C
Well if the light on the dash just blinks regularly, then you haven't got any diagnostic codes stored. Contrary to what some garages think, you can have problems without a code being logged, shocker. -Ian
