Exactly how is it taking the piss if you sell a part for the same or 'near' to how much it cost you to buy from a retailer if its brand new in box? Not that I would know:rolleyes:

Hold on mate, when i posted that comment i hadn't actually read the post that has you all fired up, so it was in no way a comment on you, just a general comment,

and to clarify, i actually think that if you buy parts from a retailer, and then have cause to re sell them in new condition, you should be able to get somewhere near the lowest price that the same parts are available at on the net,

BUT as we all know retail prices vary wildly, and even if somebody has been unfortunate enough to buy parts at over inflated retail prices, they souls not be able to then past their unfortunate purchase on to others for that price, IMO it should be priced below the lowest available.

a new gearbox for £2200 from the states, well they must have come down a fair bit in price then

That was the last time i checked Gaz a few months ago when i was looking into buying a 6 speed conversion but went for the single setup first:)

Completely agreed, hence why I have lost so much money, but the fact is I never bought at Over Inflated prices, I've just taken the price of delivery, duty, and a bit on small parts and a huge chunk off large parts before valuation,

Even at 10%duty, it mounts up over 23K:rolleyes:, its aggrevating when you think your doing your bit for the club and then some unkown comes up with this b$$$$£, trying [hopefully] in vain to tarnish another members reputation

This thread has got more attention than it deserves, its defo downhill, but it was never up

that looks more of a slippery slope to me.

Cant believe one person saying that if they were going to sell their gearbox then they would want a lot of money for it ever got this far.

Its hardly club spirit going downhill. Its one persons view of reasonable against another.

now wheres my 3d glasses, I have a web site to look at.

Go away then and stop dragging the club spirit down?

EDIT, ok that sounds overly harsh re-reading it. BUT the only thing going on here is a thread you started to slag off another member. It seems a little OTT to complain the club spirit isn't what is was when you're the one slagging people off and calling them words.

This thread is going nowhere and should be locked imo before more bad feeling starts.

There is no CLICK, you are unknown to me as I have never seen an input of any technical substance, it is a car forum after all:search:

I'm trying - I'm more pissed off that I missed my gym class waiting for O.P to make an actual point;)

yeah i understand that, but i trawled everywhere in the states last month, and the cheapest was 3.6k inc duties and post, although that is still a bargain, secondhand gearboxes on there own average at between £1k to £1.5k but have seen some a lot more.

pointless thread though

Rereading the thread properly now that I'm home, my comment seemed a bit harsh and was made purely in jest :)

To be completely honest, this needs Doug's famous molehill image... The spirit on this place is very good, and for one will hold my hand up and say I've made some fantastic friends on here (I class friends as people who I will happily invite to my home, and in fact do come to my home to visit)

If we locked the threads that go no where, we'd have to shut down half the forum :D

This is just one where one (or a couple) of people didn't like a single sentence in an unrelated thread, nothing more.

People can offer parts for sale for whatever they like, doesn't mean it's a good price or likely to sell. Just take a look at the unsold items in the for sale section for a guide :D

Bolerbag (though I am still annoyed at him for saying I made the bpu article up from snippits on the interweb :D ), has a huge number of top end parts for sale at good prices, so he's not what I'd call a rip off merchant!
