Tricky-Ricky
I used to keep tropical fish when I was at school but got rid of the tank to fund my first car. I always wanted to keep marines but I didn't have the money then. I'm moving into a new apartment this weekend and plan to buy a new tank. Spent the last few weeks scouring the internet and reading different forums - think I might go Marine but worried I won't have the time. Problem is not many aquatic shops speak English here, and my Japanese doesn't extend to fish talk DodgyRog - Very nice looking tank Who makes it? You should have a good source of marine fish in Japan Nick, if they don't eat them first;) Yes very nice setup DodgyRog, almost tempted to start on the rift lake fish:)
Charlotte
I had a look round the aquariums at the local garden centre the other day. One of the crabs was eating another crab.
GoliathJay
I used to keep them, they are realy addictive and expensive. I had mine my my bedroom, what a mistake. The noise used to drive me mad! Don't make the mistake I did, did a 20% water change, didnt test the water prior to adding it (Had left it to rest for a few days though). Turns out that the acid levels in the water in my area rise and drop dramatically, often. Wiped out 90% of my fish over night. Wasnt a nice sight to wake up to. EDIT: They are awesome when running well though.

I'm not a big one for water testing to be honest, we are of the opinion that provided everything is running smoothly, don't change the water too often provided it is filtered properly. Thorin
We've got a few cold water fish, much easier than tropical or marine fish.

DodgyRog
DodgyRog - Very nice looking tank Who makes it? Ta:) It's a Baolong Aquarium. To be honest, the quality of the cabinet isn't great, but you don't really notice. Before we bought this one we had a 4ft high top Rena and they are excellent tanks, I would buy a Rena over this one any day, but they are double what I paid for this one:rolleyes: You get what you pay for I guess;)

P 17EED
I have got a 6.5 foot tank with tropical fish. It does take quite a bit of time to look after. Just lost about 4 fish in the last couple of weeks due to my water going bad. Getting back to normal now tho. Its just so relaxing and enjoyable to watch after a hard days work. P 17EED
nope no spare tanks just got rid of them. I asked at one of my local fish shops (not fish and chip shops!) and they just said to put them in black bins and move as quick as u can. Ark
Its got 2 rather large external filters. Thinking of moving house soon, really not to sure how to move the tank and fish!! Last time we moved, the wife snaffled three or four empty 20 litre water bottles from the office to store some tank water in (saves some of the bacteria so you're not starting from scratch). She also got a couple of polystyrene cartons from the fish shop which they get their fish supplied in - keeps the fish warm and in the dark in their plastic bags. Catching 40 (!) fish was the hard part, then we just syphoned all 80 gallons straight to the gutter. Even with just wet gravel in the bottom, the tank took all three removal men to move it! However, always make sure the removal men do it for you, because then an accidental breakage in transit is covered by your insurance. We managed the whole move with zero fatalities. Talking of insurance, if you keep fish, you normally need to inform your home insurer, because the risk of water damage is higher - they may crank your premium a little but it's worth it if the tank ever cracks!
