At last, justice for the Gurkhas

Very pleased to hear this.

They are a brave and proud people and despite how we have treated them in the past they still consider it one of the highest rewards to serve in the UK Forces. I am ashamed that it has taken so long for those who have fought along side us in the pursuit of our freedom to only now be given the recognition they deserve for their sacrifices. (Sorry for the American type feel to this statement)

I believe including British Officers that in total the Gurkhas have won 26 VC since their inception following the Indian Mutany of 1857 when they became part of the British Indian Army after having served sine 1817 with the East Indian Company Army. Thats got to count for something!!

Poles was fighting as a RAF regiment against common enemy of UK and Poland - Germans. They did this, as at that days regular polish army did not exist and polish soldiers was part of of allied armies (although they had their own identity).

Gurkhas was British army ENEMIES during Nepal War, they got respect of British Army because their kicked their arse during this war even being heavily outnumbered. They got hired by British Army later on because of their fighting skills.

See we know a good scrap when we see it and shake hands and join forces. The US hasnt quite got the hang of that one.

How could we refuse Gurkhas into the country that have fought with us, yet let people in who clearly can't or wont contribute to the county is beyond me. Thanks god that rule was overturned.

Nothing was overturned, the government have only said they will look at these cases again. That will most likely take so long that most of the people it could benifit will be dead anyway, meanwhile we will continue to let the worlds dross into our country to be a burden on the system and like many other countries keep decent hard working people at arms length waiting for visas.:(
