What was your first family car?

First one I remember was a Beetle. I think he had two. Then a Variant fastback, then two Fiat 850 coupes. These would have been through the '60s and early '70s. He stayed with Fiats through to the '80s, then moved on to Mazdas.

Edit...I vaguely remember him having an NSU RO80 too whilst I was in boarding school, circa '74.

Looking back at it my family has had a lot of Jap Cars.

I know my dad had a mazda of some kind. Not sure what it was but he towed our caravan with it but it didnt have enough puff so he had a turbo fitted i think... Not sure i will have to ask him but it kept over heating so he got rid of it for...

...A Mk3 supra NA auto in silver :D which is the first one i remember properly.

And my mum had a red civic.

Then my dad got a white Mitsubishi Sigma, 3L awesome car. All kinds of electrics. hydraulic suspention. 4 wheel steer, looked as mean as feck and sounded great. ooooh found a link :D

My mum then got a white mitsi colt.

My dad got rid of the Sigma (wish he hadnt as they seem rare. have only seen one other) and got a S type Jag.

My mum got a gold yarris,

I got a 1.2 Clio,

Then my mum got a mini cooper.

My dad got another S type, I got my facelift 5 speed NA, and my mum got a SLK.

Then i got my UK TT :D

I was around 12 at the time and thought the car was just amazing :D

Austin Maxi (with rear seats down- we'd have 3 sleeping bags in the back for those *long* journeys home from the relatives- Health & safety? :D)

Morris Marina (Umm...)

Austin Princess (Looked like a Lotus Esprit to me  no really.)

Rover SD1 (I liked it)

(MG?) Montego Efi (Digi dash was quite good)

First car I really remember (I count remembering as being able to remember the reg plate colour and shape) is a Red Ford Cortina they called LULU (probably down to the number plate ULU 682M).

Looked something like:

Most notable comments on this car - I have a memory of having the door slammed on my hand, and it disappearing from the same Leos supermarket car park twice within 2 months, only to be returned with a full tank of petrol (more than it was stolen with) and no damage within a few days each time! (Better class of car thief back in the day I guess ;)).

After that a green Morris Marina SKG 16S - wonderfully named: Morrie!

Looked a bit like this (obviously in green):

Bloody great car! Seemed to just keep going and going no matter what.

Following that (can't remember if the car died or we traded it in) a blue 1.6 Ford Sierra A676 VNV.

This was an ok car, no real love or memories for it. It rusted like a mofo! Traded it in for way more than it was worth to move onto a slightly newer Silica Gold Sierra 2litre EFI Ghia model (E38 SWO) which in fact was doing extremely well until about a year ago (we sold it on to a friend back in the day that actually looked after it so well he pretty much rebuilt the thing over time) when it caught fire mysteriously outside his ex girlfriends house when picking up his young son (I suspect an interloper in this car's demise!).

Looked a bit like this one, only seemed slightly curvier/neater (body coloured bumpers):
