Testing FMIC

Hi Guys,

It's been a while since I posted here last.

I have a contact with a factory that produces most intercooler cores for the big names in the industry (HKS, Blitz, Hybrid etc).

I am currently testing one of their intercoolers on my car and if everything goes well in the testing phase I may be able to arrange a group buy for them if you'd be interested.

The intercooler is very well made. Dimensions on the one i'm testing are 600x300x76 but they could also do 4" thick ones.

The 4" is the same spec as Greddy 3 row IC.

I ll post some pictures of the IC later .

The price would be very interesting. Nothing had been settled yet, but I think it would be in the range of 350 quid.

Like I said I am still testing it and will let you know how things go.

Hey Cuba, good to see you still around :)

I hope the IC pic is upside down :p

The IC piping on my HKS Type-R is made of Ali however, if you want to weld a BOV onto it, not all places can do this for you.

Won't steel rust ?? the pipes do get a lot of cr@p / spray on them during these winter months.

welding dont look all that. the ssautochrome are just copys of branded stuff. my mate is building a supra single kit and has a ssautochrome manifold and he is well chuffed with the quality for what he paid. over supra mate has ssautochrome wastegate and that looks the biz too.

So,

Aluminium or stainless steel. I think I will want it in alu as its lighter.

Hey Peter, I am still around. I was a bit busy in the winter months but I m waking up form the winter sleep.:)

The supe has been in the garage since November, so I cant wait to put things together and get her on the road.

I have had a HKS type S FMIC for 2 years (s/h from Tdi). I am convinced of their advantage, and expect anyone using it to get value for money gains. On a BPU car I have found it to be very worthwhile in terms of dynosheet results. In winter when my temp gauge drops below 4C the car really takes off and the effect of the cooler would be obvious to a dead man lol!

Any decent FMIC is a good buy IMO. I like the price of this one :-)

Ok, so the car is in the performance garage having the IC fitted and the pipes made. The main mechanic said that the IC was really nice. :)

They are a bit lazy so it ll take them a while and with easter coming I dont think I will have the car back soon.

Anyway.

I have just recieved another intercooler. I originally ordered it for my other project but I dont need it so will be selling it.

Watch the FOR SALE section soon.

Regards,
