What on Earth are you on about? You've totally flipped your lid.

"war is the terrorism of the rich and powerful and terrorism is the way of the poor and powerless"

I can't see anything in that statement that is the least bit controversial. Nations, religious groups, ideological cliques and whoever use force in order to achieve their aims. That force in practice kills innocents. If you have a lot of resources, you use the direct approach: bomb or shoot your enemy using high tech equipment. If you have few resources, and you are going to get annihilated in any direct confrontation, you run a guerrilla campaign against soldiers - or if you can't get to them - the general public.

The aim is the same in both cases. Hurt your enemy so badly that he gives up. That's always been the case through history and more so in the last few years as the imbalances in power are so extreme that open warfare just isn't an option if you're fighting a developed nation.

There are many, many atrocities perpetrated in wars and it can truly be called terrorism on a grand scale.

Probably is....to the Rich. Thanks for noticing.

P.S: Rich as in wealthy.....wasn't referring to you, so no need to throw your toys out of the pram just yet.

Well said Tannhauser....good post.

I reckon it's about time Wimpy or one of the other large builders put in for outline planning permission to build a cathedral and brewery in Saudi Arabia and then tried to use sharia law to argue the piont.

Ahh.....how would that work? Have you actually bothered to study the said law or is this simply a tit for tat comment that you could only muster.

By the way, I sell excellent 'throwing rocks' and misspelled placards at amazing prices. Daily Mail readers get a discount, and an instruction booklet.

One lazy, silly article about a freeloader and there's people choking on their own disgust at 'the state of the nation'. Get a grip. The D.M. pulls the strings and the marionettes dance.

That may be true but fairs fair, they do often give people the chance to win a picture postcard cottage in the home counties away from all the immigrants, lesbians and *cough* coloureds.

I must say Imi's sig just seemed like a soundbite style fact to me. I was racking my one brain cell looking for its offensive nature- but I just couldn't find it. Nice post from Tannhausser again too.

Is that a serious question?? I hope not.

I might go to work tomorrow and claim that I'm not allowed to touch the plastic my mouse and keyboard are made of, and as such they're discriminating against me.

Deadly serious I am afraid. It appears that if you are an illegal immigrant, don't worry we won't try to deport you, can't be bothered and those that want to go back are given £3000 for their troubles. Need an operation or suffering from something nasty like TB, well come to us, we will treat you for free on our NHS. Working in the UK, got children at home in Latvia, dont worry we will give you child benefit, and you dont even have to send it home. So what is a little compensation going to do, not a lot!!!

They are legally taking advantage of all the benefits that the UK make available to them, hardly the fault of the illegal immigrants.

Fault lies with the UK Govt so voice your opinion accordingly.

FFS This sort of thing is made to make you angry. I'm now spitting nails but for what? NOTHING is going to change and it will only get worse. So if you don't like it then fook off to where ever you can call your country coz this ain't yours anymore.

Oh yeah , sorry that's what I am doing...:p

but actually not because of anything political.

Good post and totally true in context because that is the way of things.

That is not my point; my point is the signature, in my interpretation, TENDS TO indicate support for the action of terrorism, which is unacceptable to me, and I feel out of place in this forum IMHO. I have not flipped my lid either, this is just MY opinion, and I am sure Imi himself would allow me that.

You have your opinion, and naturally I respect that as well.

The problem is the vast majority believe the media tells the truth, but there are always so many versions of the the truth. Anything goes, as shock headlines get the numbers/£'s.

Even if we concede that the media is manipulative it does not get away from the fact that a lot of people have had a belly full of this type of thing and the perception of blatant bias towards certain memebers of the population. Just read some of the posts in this thread.

Well said: who knows what the unemotional facts of the case are..... Sadly, you proably won't find out by reading the newspapers. Off the topic of this thread, but this is why I'm not keen on having a referendum on, well, anything. The papers will publish articles designed to whip up fear, and the public will vote accordingly. Whichever side of the argument spins the strongest rhetoric would probably win the referendum.

I used to read the Sunday Times (which I thought was fairly level-headed), but I noticed that the opening paragraph to most of the political stories was full of emotional scene-setting and portraying the journalist's feelings/views.
