R Black
Ive not read this fully as its one of many stories like this that have come to light in recent years, but the fault IMO is with any system that would contemplate allowing this into tribunal court or anything, if it has to be assessed as an individual case, he or his lawyers should be billed (and MADE to pay, regardless of his situation) under some time wasting clause. Thing is that we only hear what the newspapers/internet/tv decides to publish. I'm guessing the tribunal is more focussed on the way he was treated when he asked to be transfered (which I think is a reasonable thing to do). The news (as always) just picks up on the more outlandish parts.

Regarding alcohol, muslims are not allowed to drink it but it can be used in medicine and for treatment of injured so how the fcuk is the guy claiming that he can not handle it. There is as always more to the story and we only know what we read.
Ian R
Tesco would have asked at interview if there was any area in the warehouse he couldn't work. The company bend over backwards to accomodate all types if people, they even have courses for management to ensure instances like this don't happen. Personally, I think the interesting thing isn't the story itself but the fact that this is deemed worthy of national news coverage. There's always some chancer trying to get a meal ticket by prostituting their faith/gender/ethnicity etc - it's part of the price paid for having a system that stops genuine discrimination. Is it really newsworthy? Or is it really just a way of promulgating the message "we are being taken advantage of by XYZ"? If so, then that's not really a news story, it's a political message, published solely to push your buttons. Question: what paper uses the following formula? 1. Relentlessly scout out examples of outrageous abuse of equality/human rights legislation 2. Amplify aspects most likely to enrage average person's sense of fair-mindedness 3. Invent details as necessary to fit tone of piece 4. Ignore any counter-arguments or contrary viewpoints 5. Repeat ad nauseam Answer: there's honestly no need to even Google whose story this is. I'll eat my hat if it isn't the D**ly M*** or the M*** on ***day.

juanchan
Why shouldn't we give him compensation? Is that a serious question?? I hope not. I might go to work tomorrow and claim that I'm not allowed to touch the plastic my mouse and keyboard are made of, and as such they're discriminating against me. Aero-M
This country sucks. If he wants to carry on his muslim believes why the hell doesn't he go back to one of the arab countrys. The Arabic word 'Islam' simply means 'submission', and derives from a word meaning 'peace'. Doesn't sound like he wants peace. This country seems to be to interested in helping all apart from the british people that build the country and need help. I watched the motorway cops the other day, they were saying it is so difficult to send immigrants back! WHY! They come over in a container, they should gather them all up in one and post it back. And if your country was in such a bad state you were prepared to risk death for you and your family in search of a better life you might take a different view? DJButler
I reckon it's about time Wimpy or one of the other large builders put in for outline planning permission to build a cathedral and brewery in Saudi Arabia and then tried to use sharia law to argue the piont. What a load of Bo**ocks the laws in this country have descended to, no wonder theres no national pride left, we got little to be proud of these days. Rant over, Sorry, Shit no i'm not!!!!!. Still proud to be ENGLISH, the best part of British.
