no you can tighten it up tight with no sliping but im doing it with my fingers so really i dont no how tight you have to go

You're tightening it with your finger? It needs to be on a flat surface and tightened with an allen key - I sometimes have to re-tighten mine once or twice before it stops making squeaks.

sounds like the thread is stripped TBH - any slight force on it makes the screw slip out again.

no i am tighten up with the the allen key wots provided . do you need to use a ratchet as well or tighten it with you hand should be ok

By hand is fine. Needing to re-tighten it once or twice is normal, takes a little while to settle properly.

i picked the car from leicster went down m1 to northampton turn off back home to rushden must have tightened it about 20ish times and still came undone it seems to need something to take the vibration away from roof or screw

I've never had a problem with mine coming undone AT ALL. Once it's done up using the ratchet tool, to what I would call hand tight, that's the way it stays.

i see never use a ratchet car didnt have one just turning it tight with my fingers (using the allen key ) thanks

same as mate - the ratchet has an allen key head - just easier to use - doesn't tighten it more.

but this allen key is a straight one no bend in it, so to cant get leverage on it not like a ratchet you have a handle .never done one up before dont like to brake it:taped:

got any pictures of what your using ?

what you should have is 1 allen key part with a black bulge of it and 1 small rachet and what you do is take swap the allen key bit round to loosen and tighten and put some good pressure on it when tightening it up

yep thats the allen key i have but no ratchet that was missing .

need to get one thanks for that info
