MrRalphMan
And why were the cameras set so far and so high on the track. The whole idea of F1 is that you see, hear and feel the cars. Its like watching a scaletrix race in the dark in your bedroom. Less than impressed with that race. Glad someone else feels the same. Most other tracks get great close up tracking shots.. This circuit should have been perfect to get a shot like that, but everything was shot so far away... Maybe to show the night as if it was just the car and track you wouldn't have had that effect. Still enjoyable to see the fun and games with Ferrari's green light system again.. I though they had the pit chief ready to override it.. He should be the one releasing, he can hardly keep up with the last man clicking go and getting in before the light goes green.. Still how many times does the lollypop man get it wrong too? Thorin
Great result So the last time Ferrari's automated pit lights put Massa out into the path of someone else in the pit lane, instead of getting a drive through which could have affected their result, they get a paltry fine. This time, when he's dead last anyway, he gets a drive through. Where is the punishment there? I hope they get a bloody big fine. Not Massa's fault at all, but again if they had a guy with a lollipop at the front he'd see they hadn't finished refuelling, and see the other car coming past (of course they sometimes get it wrong too though). Dragging the fuel hose down the full length of the pit lane spewing fuel, and potentially putting everyone else in the pit lane in danger, cannot go without a big penalty IMO. They won't get one of course. They'll probably get fined £3.50 or something, if at all.
tbourner
Lollypop men do get it wrong sometimes, but the light went green when they weren't even attempting to get the hose out (probably on a timer so the refuellers should have been taking the hose out), but then the light went red again almost straight away (probably overridden by someone who knew it shouldn't have gone green). If that had been a lollypop it would have been slammed down on the front of the car pulling out, and he would have stopped, but because it was a light above his head he didn't see it. Alex
For those who prefer the FIA conspiracy theories: Firstly the stewards decided not to investigate the fact that Alonso completely cut turn 1 on the first lap, thus overtaking 'Captain Slow' Button. Why bother, neither Ferrari nor McLaren were involved. Secondly they took a half hour to decide that Rosberg should get a stop'n'go penalty, thus allowing him to pull out a 30 second lead and come out in front of DC and Hamilton. lol - good ol' double standards/inconsistency's. I wasn't in the least surprised the stewards took ages to award Rosberg his drive through - I hoped he'd get further still!!
Alex
http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_4210226,00.html FIA are looking at banning the Ferrari pit light system...because even they can't blame the cock-ups and unsafe releases it's caused, on McLaren. jim_supra
I enjoyed that race, lot's of mis-haps, mainly by Ferrari, and I was laughing out load at the McLaren crew cheering on the Ferrari crew as they sprinted to help Massa. More of the same please Ferrari.

Fair enough be competitive, but there is a small part of me that would have hoped another team would help them out to remove the pipe rather than just laughing... guess I'm living in a touchy feely world (blame the cold medicine I'm on) *Normal bitchiness will resume once the drugs wear off* Just the same as the biggest concern appeared to be that massa didn't get going rather than the poor fuel rigger who got whipped around again.. But there again, McLaren would appeal that and then the Lewis Lovers would be on about everyone being pro-Ferrari and anti-McLaren

Fair enough, the technology and all that is specific to a team and let it remain that way. I really should stay off the drugs, next I'll become a carebear and I'll be nice to Niz

Am quite surprised that Force India never helped - as I'm sure a gesture like that would have helped the engine supply prices for 2009 season! JustGav
Yeah, you'd think, but it's the whole "not my problem, Guv". And I think this is my sole biggest reason for not being a sports fan... sport in general appears to be a 'life and death' thing these days with very few people willing to do the nice 'karma' thing. Well actually I think it appears in life in general and sport just highlights it. http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/41081000/jpg/_41081454_gayhug203bbc.jpg *Shudder*

That's what I thought initially but aren't there limitations and rules regarding who can actually work on a car, removing the fuel hose by someone else may have resulted in another team objecting and making an official complaint. Alex
Indeed - I expect the other mechanics are banned from working on cars that are not theirs! And the pay masters might be a bit hacked off if whilst helping out another car your own car had to rush into the pits...
tbourner
It's not just the teams, a marshal walked straight past the car after it'd stopped, fair enough he might not know how to remove the hose, but imagine anyone else trying to help them by removing the hose and end up damaging the car so it couldn't carry on racing. ivan
Here's another I spotted: "STEWARDS TO GET SOFTWARE BACK-UP Bill Gates has offered his help to the FIA by producing new software that will simplify and speed up the penalty process. Microsoft Steward Assistant will be very much like Microsoft Word Assistant, the "funny little paper clip" that helps format documents. All the stewards need to do is type in such key words as Car 21, Car 22, Kovalainen, Hamilton, McLaren, Heikki or Lewis and Microsoft Steward Assistant will come up with a range of penalties from a 10,000 Euro fine to life imprisonment that can be awarded for various offences on the track. Max Mosley's F1 representative Allan Donnelly, who gets himself involved in all controversial decisions, has welcomed the software as being a great addition to the sport. As long as he gets to operate it."
