Tents/camping

Does anyone know of anywhere that sell decent tents, whether its a shop or off the internet.

What im after is ideally a 4 seasons 3 man tent.

I am not all that clued up on what good and whats not, so if anyone can recommend one that would be good.

I plan to maybe go hiking with it so a light one would be good as well.

Cost wise, Id like to keep it below £100 so im not after the best.

I have seen a few on the internet for like £50 but I have no idea if they are any good or not.

Any recommendations?

I reckon it would do pretty well, my GF's brother has one and we recently went camping in Croyde where the weather was terrible.

His stood up to the wind and rain well. No leaks at all.

The advantage with these is the hassle free pitching and they are designed with the hiker in mind.

Bit pricey compared to the Halfords jobs, but they are a pain to pack away!

Features I'd be looking for would include:

- bathtub groundsheet, stops water leaking in from the ground

- 2 entrances, lessens stress

- porch for stashing gear and cooking when it's p*ssing down

- inner made of mesh, fly protection without too much condensation

- decent hydrostatic head (waterproofness), probably no less than 2000mm

- reflective guylines

Remember to guy the thing out properly or else you'll be wet with condensation - the inner shouldn't touch the outer. And get some fly spray, give the inside a squirt a couple of minutes before you settle down, much comfier night ;)

Take a look at the Vango range of tents. The brand has been around for ages and they are well designed as well as hard wearing. I would steer clear of Royal as a manufacturer, we bought a Royal two years ago and it now leaks badly and has ripped in various places. A Geodesic dome design is very stable in high winds. Finally, bear in mind that what is advertised as a three person tent is actually a spacious two person tent!

Thanks.

I had a looked in Go Outdoors today, andthere are some nice ones. Im considering getting a Vango 3 man tent. Like BigCol said, they are def cheaper there and all the tents are pitched so you can see what they look like as well!

Having a look at Blacks tomorrow then illmake a decission.

Thanks for the useful advise :)

Well, I ended up getting the Vango Sigma 300+ (as shown in the link above) from Go Outdoors.

I also went into Blacks to see their range but the guy in there said that they are stopping doing tents now, however, there will be some still left in the warehouses if I went online and got it.

So heres my tent :)
