imi
The 2nd one looking interesting. I wonder whether there is a product that is simply an add-on to an existing alarm. maybe something like THIS Reason being, most of these devices are NOT CAT1. merckx
I had a gps one a few years ago but it stopped working and I've forgotten why. It had it's own sim card and telephone number so you could ring it up and it would respond by giving you it's longitude and latitude which was very accurate. It also had a speaker and mic in the car so you could communicate with whoever was in the car. You could also disable the car remotely.
Branners
I found a fag packet sized GPS tracker the other day. It tracks where you (or your car or wife) has been and then you plug it in to the laptop to download it. It shows the distance, speed, everything. And it was only £60...just got to find the link now..

Branners
My wife got one of the things I posted above and it works very well. Its actually the size of a box of matches and about half as thick. So it can be a keyring if needs be. I used it today and its pretty accurate. It even worked in the pocket of my jacket in the car. When you import the journey it shows you route, speed, exact time at each stage. It can then use its own googlemaps or run in to GoogleEarth and show you the journey that way. Certainly worth it if you worry about where your car/wife/children have been and just how fast they were going...!!

I didn't actually... my car plans are on 'economic' hold at the moment, so will be doing more in the near future when that situation has been rectified

michael
If you are looking for a cheap way to track a willing participant then CoPilot Sat Nav allows this, it also means you can send them messages from the PC and redirect them to the pie shop on the way home. http://www.alk.eu.com/copilot/live_tracking.asp I have this on my old N95, it's quite effective but not something I ever really felt the need to use.
