Autobox (BL) + AEM + Single discussion?

As there was some really good discussion relating to setting up a AEM with an auto box in the following thread I wondered if a kind mod could move it to here for further discussion?

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=162797

I've put this in technical to keep it on topic. I just think that there seems some poor combinations when using a AEM just as a Stock box, TC and line pressure :)

Just an idea and might serve others in the future :)

People that might be able to shed some light I would have though:

Ryan, Michel, Supra_Matt, Paul_Mac, Ian C, (and many others)

Just to give people some background:

My car spec is here:

http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/vbpicgallery.php?do=view&g=547

But simply it has and AEM+BL box (modified line pressure) + 3200 TC + Ryan mapping.

My car in different scenarios:

Round town (low speed sitting in traffic):

Shifts firmly between 1st and 2nd but not massively different to stock

Hills:

Tested today 40mph up a steep hill was in third with my foot in a fixed position. After 3/4 of the way up the car started to struggle i.e. revs dropping off. Car changed down to 2nd. Then I applied wot to try and catch it out and without any hesitation it went into kick down i.e. 1st.

Motorway cruise:

Stays in 4th gear all of the time i.e. 70mph however if applying 40-50% throttle then nothing then reapplying over and over again gearbox stays in third.

Off road (private track :innocent:)

WOT being at below 40mph will result in kick down to 1st then it will pull through the gears reving to just before the redline. 2nd to 3rd is so fast that the only way you know its changed gear is due to the engine note changing and it dropping revs. Any WOT above 70-80 mph the car stays in 3rd to a point i haven't tested.

Not sure if any off the above helps but might do if you either have a similar setup that your not happy with or considering a AEM + Single + Autobox either stock or BL.

I do remember Ryan saying something about my setup being harder to map because of the 3200 stall.

Good post and idea mate this my save a lot of people going tho what I've been tho waste of time and money to find out the hard way that the ame will not control the stock box as it is meant to run.

As Rob sad above this is how mine behaves

Hill 's

wont change down unless you do it

Round town

This is about as good as it gets it's like stock with very smooth changes.

motor way

drives fine but if you wont to over take it dose not kick down like the stock one would and if you give it wot it kicks down to much so its a case off all or nothing,

private test track

Waste of time having it in normal mode as if you give it wot it goes from 1 to 2 then hits the limiter and wont change into 3 unless you back off then reapply wot . If you wont to drive it hard you have to put it in manual mode and do your own gear change

The aem also has afue funny quarks (spelling)

If you sit at a 40 mph it will be jumping in and out of 3 and 4 the line pressure is not right .

Also you cant go over 9 mph in reverse as it changes into 2 but the is no 2 in reverse so it just revs with no movement till it goes back below 9 mph.

Ryan did try to correct the above problem but it just made things a lot worse in other places so my set up is as good as it gets on the stock auto .
