jamesmark
My 200SX S14a (uk) has started to idle erratically, it does not do it all the time but does it more often that it don't. It has been doing it for a while but has gradually got worse, it started after a trip to Scotland and I had the exhaust bung in. I was warned not to push the car like usual as I could blow a gasket. So I was thinking that I have either got a leak somewhere between the manifold to cat back. The car does feel under powered and not as lively, the only gauges I have is boost gauge and AFM and both read ok with no issues. or MAF sensor if faulty (£550 + VAT from Nissan ) so I hope it is not this. I am going to be doing an oil change on it at the weekend so will be checking the exhaust for leaks then. Are there any other things it could be? There is no FCD on the car and it never done it when I first bought her. Edited September 24, 2008 by jamesmark (see edit history)
bigbloodyturbo
vacuum leak somewhere or an air leak between the air meter and the engine would be my thoughts if it was me.
Luka-P
Idle Air Control Valve caused my lass' Corsa to have a bad idle, symptoms sound similar. Apart from the Corsa and 200SX being a bit different!
dan4
turbo to manifold or turbo to downpipe gasket, very common mate. A little tricky to change them but not mega expensive
Veilside
My Rover 820, had an erratic idle. took it to a mechanic he plugged up the ECU and tuned it up on this handheld computer device... the idle was sooo ridiculous it would reach 4,000RPM and then drop to like 900RPM and and vibrate and then WOULD STALL. i had to stick it in Neutral keep it at 1,000RPM at traffic lights. what a bloody hassle!
