Tannhauser Posted September 21, 2008 Share Posted September 21, 2008 One of Jevansio's posts on Michael's injured drummer thread reminded me of a clip I'd seen, so rather than hijack further I thought I'd start another here. I love the bass guitar and I love to see a good bass player more than almost any other musician. My favourite bassist is Jeff Berlin. It's not his technical skill, but his sheer musicality that sets him apart. Plus, he used to look very much like Bob Carolgees. Unfortunately, they were so loud, he could have been playing anything and it would have sounded the same. I like him, though. Geddy Lee would have to be my favourite rock bassist. Lots of slap bass etc. I got some TABS of his at home somewhere from when I used to play the bass in a band in school. I'll dig them out and give you his name, but he was good. People get very defensive about their musical heroes (me included), but I'm surprised that he's so popular. I don't think anything he played in that solo, presumably showcasing his talent, was particularly demanding. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.
