meph137
Anyone here actually got polished calipers on their supe? Would be interested to see pics and know of anyones experiance polishing. I was considering painting mine but I want to either stay true to the original color or polish if I can't, and I can't seem to find the dark gray color the calipers are painted. If I were to polish the calipers, I was thinking of doing them a satin effect, not too loud, and then have a chrome supra logo on them. I think it would look spot on. Also, anyone got any advice on preserving the brakes after polishing? I presume if I just left them theyd quickyl get shitty, I'm assuming people apply some lacquer or similar? Not sure how that would look with a satin finish though... Just don't wanna ruin my brakes doing it They are UK spec. meph137
Yeh they do, I've just never seen them on the car....can't find any pics. Also not seen anyone do a satin finish, I'm worried the chrome is too 'in yer face'!
alaing
Arent the cast iron? Therefore they would rust very quickly if you were to polishe them. The ones in the picture look chrome.
Jamesy W
They look smart but keeping them that way would be too much of a pain in the @rse for me.

Guigsy
they wouldnt last long. Unless your ar is kept in a atmosphere controlled garrage or you dismantle the brakes over the winter
meph137
I don't like the chrome, too bling. So like I was asking - no-one had them done satin chrome?
Guest Garfy
you could probably powdercoat them in a silver that will look the same as a satin polish.
meph137
Hmmm, I think I'm gonna go down the powdercoat route - anyone got any advice on how to strip down calipers? Need to remove all rubber etc before sending them to be powerder coated.

razza
chrome would be a pain in the arse, it's bad enough trying to keep the wheels free of brake dust, they would get trashed pretty quickly unless you took a cleaning rag with you where ever you went. Tricky-Ricky
Chrome won't do much for heat dissipation either;)
TrickTT
Gunk make a petrol resistant clear lacquer aerosol which is heat resistant to about 200 deg. I used it on my polished power steering resevoir which is steel. Doesn't affect the look of the polished finish and should work equally well on polished calipers.
