Lambda sensor type

I recently purchased a pair of lambda sensors for my '94 N/A.

When I came to fit them today, I realised that they were a 4 wire type. The ones on my Supra are the single wire type.

Is it because I bought them from the states, and the us spec cars use 4 wire type for their stricter emmission laws?

Could I use a the 4 wire ones by cutting off the connector and re-connecting the single pin connector to the correct wire? (which wire?)

If not, does anyone know a source of good quality sensors here in the UK. I know there is occasionally a group buy but there doesn't seem to be one on the go at the minute.

I had read on previous posts on here that the "universal" type were not recommended. Or is that just for the TT set up?

You've probably bought O2 sensors for a TT, as you say the NA ones only have a single wire. Every Supra model has different O2 sensors; NA, TT, TT VVTi, UK TT, etc. If you need a source for the correct ones drop me a pm.

The output from the O2 sensor is only used for closed loop, low speed running and not used for WOT runs.
