MrAngry Posted March 8, 2005 Share Posted March 8, 2005 My car is currently sitting at the local Toyota garage with a problem. I had driven it to the local supermarket and the car has no problems at all. It was idling in the car park for a while again no problems until I tried to pull away then it wouldn't pick up at all. and eventually kept cutting out, everytime I tried to give it any throttle. The AA came out to it and the only option was to have it moved to Toyota's. The mechanic has just informed me that the fuel pressure is way to high currently running at 70psi. and as a result the ECU keeps closing the injectors. Its the original stock fuel pump and I have a Walbro FSE on. Does anyone have any ideas why the pressure might be so high? Might it be the FSE thats playing up? he also mentioned the sensor that sits above the fuel rail about half way along to the right of the head (Vacuum sensor??) I think he said. Ian C Posted March 8, 2005 Share Posted March 8, 2005 Well, thought one is - the ECU has no idea what pressure the fuel system is at. There isn't a sensor. The stock pressure regulator is a sealed unit designed for a 36psi static pressure. So that's a big load of cobblers about the ECU "shutting the injectors" for a start. Thought two - Walbro don't make FSEs they make fuel pumps. FSE is actually a company name who make fuel pressure regulators. If you've got one of these it may well have gone sproing as they have a reputation for it. The vacuum sensor is referring, I think, to the MAP sensor, which is around that area, a small box held onto the manifold by two 10mm bolts, has a green label on it and a small vac hose going into its underside. If the hose comes off that you will experience disasterous idling and running problems. Could be a good place to start... -Ian Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It could be the FSE, but another tuner sent a car out recently with a 65 psi Vacuum reading on an FSE and it still ran ( they dont come pre set BTW, always check ) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This is going to sound strange but the fault is attributed to the FCD and nothing at all to do with the FSE. They have taken the FCD out and just had the car for a drive with no prblems at all. An easy fix in the end. Its a shame I had to use Toyota but I am up in Carlisle visiting my parents at the moment and didn't have a lot of choice!
