Guest Terry S
Thats interesting guys, any of you do AutoCad for mechanical services?
attilauk
depends what you want done i use AutoCAD all the time, i mainly do proposed road / junction layouts etc but i did do a fair bit of 3d Structural Steelwork detailing at university
Soonto_HAS_soop
I've used CAD for a good few years, but the last couple i have been mostly using Catia. Could probably dust off the old copy of AutoCAd for something that will not tax me to much.
Digsy
What version of Catia do you use, dude? 4.2.4 here. Right in front of me this very moment.
JustGav
If it is just a floor plan, why not use something simplier like Visio? Gav
Dale B
PM sent what sort of cad work do you do Boneyard? I mostly do mechanical / pipeline engineering (or thats what I get paid for anyway ). Althought I have been using AutoCAD since release 9 (tries not to show age). I used to do a lot of "guvvy" work on a weekend ... houses, public buildings etc but havent really bothered with that for years, just thought I d help someone on the BB out if needed. I'll draw anything really

JustGav
Suppose you could import it as a background into visio.... but then I think a proper cad tool might be slightly better, but more difficult.. Gav

Plenty of people to pick from though

AJI
only just noticed this thread.... didn't know we had so many C.A.D. people on this BBS. My job is that of C.A.D. Manager for a fairly large company which does civil engineering and I have a smallish team of C.A.D. Technicians which do bridge structures, road design layouts, visualisation drawings and even drive through animations etc. etc. We use AutoCAD 2004, AutoCAD 2005LT, Lightwave 3D, MX Moss aswell as a combination of graphics packages. Maybe we should have a C.A.D. section to this BBS ?

Rob
I think Attilauk did, when he posted up his e-mail address. I'd like to help, but I'd have to do a risk assessment first, then extend my Indemnity Insurance.

LOL my old company changed from I-DEAS v10nx to Catia V5 overnight. Probably a late one for the CAD manager that night Still probably better than having oodles of experience on a discontinued product DOH!
