Pig
Have had some work done on the car recently. I dont have the car back yet. Its had the dash redone for the dash 2 and having the boost controller and the RLTC plummed in. I have also had a bosch fuel pump fitted. The car was tested after the fuel pump was fitted and it ran fine (was tested on boost) I then had the starter motor contacts done. This involved dissconnecting the batt for a couple of days. Not the car is not running right on full boost. symptons are described as: popping under full boost AFR shoot to lean as it comes onto boost. Please could you prehaps help me fix this problem with your superior knowledge Running AEM ECU by the way Edited September 18, 2008 by Pig (see edit history)
Pig
Cancel that its just going lean on boost. editted above
JamieP
Would the new pump have changed your fuel pressure?
Tricky-Ricky
I agree thats about the only thing i can think of. although it shouldn't in theory, due to the regulator.
Pig
Fuel pressure is 30 PSI @ idle. The strange thing is the car was tested after the fuel pump was fitted and it was fine. Its only messing up after the batt was unplugged for 2 days. Could the AEM have lost the map? Having the old pump put back in to fault find.... need to sort by tomorrow as the car is booked in for mapping this weekend.
Ryan.G
Jon, Couple of things i would suggest trying chap Firstly i have never seen an aem lose its map but have heard it has happened so firstly just upload again your map from TDI and see if that resolves the issue. If it doesn't then check the fuel pressure on boost and see if its dropping. If its dropping then it will be a pump issue if its only happening after fitting the new pump... Pig
I think i might have got it....Having the clocks put back in now. Its not the pump as we have put the walbro back in and its the same. I was thinking that if the clocks are not plugged in then maybe the AEM wont see a rev counter reading hence not putting fuel when the car comes on boost. A few notes, the new pump was tested and was fine before the rest of the work was done. If the AEM had lost its map surely the car wouldnt start let alone drive? Ryan.G
The RPM is taken from the Crank signal so wont be to do with the tacho. God knows what caused that in the dash. Ryan

Tricky-Ricky
Thats interesting Ryan, i have my EMU connected to the crank angle sensor, but if i select that i don't get an RPM signal, so i use the taco?

Tricky-Ricky
The tacho is driven from the Ecu on Pin 16A What i meant was that why won't it read the crank signal, i normally use the taco signal anyway, but was curious as to why, and just wondered if you know of an issue with the EMU? Most likely down the wave form differences and the EMU not supporting the Crank signal. Not sure TBH chap
