Alarm System

Can anyone recommend a good alarm system?

I'm thinking of having a Clifford system installed, but they do a number of different versions.

I really want to have proximity sensors to sound the alarm if people get too close, add on a turbo timer through the larm at a later stage, window closure, etc.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've got the Intelliguard 950, you should be able to get someone to sort out the turbo timer for nothing, the company that fitted mine did it for free !

I also went back and got the windows done later for £65 instead of the apparent usual price of £95.

HTH.

I had my Concept 650 fitted by Gap Security who carried out an excellent fit plus removed all the Old Toyota alarm stuff, this was all done in my drive way @ home in a day, like I say an excellent job treated the car like it was there own !!! (not too many like that in my experience) it all cost me best part of £500 squid, oh and the alarm has the proximity which croaks like a frog when you get near the motor. worth a try :o) they have a Web sitej ust type Gap Security.

That MNC link looks like a supply only, which technically they shouldn't do. Beware of supply only as a lot of dealers won't fit them, or will charge a high premium to do the installation, and they almost certainly won't entertain warranty.

I'd also beware of anyone offering to fit a Clifford too cheaply. They need to be installed properly, or they will have problems.

Personally, I'd never have an alarm installed by mobile guys either. Before anyone jumps down my throat, I hear of so many people that have had installations done by mobile guys, and if/when something goes wrong, they either make excuses as to why they cannot come back, or simply don't turn up and ignore your phone calls.

Try to go by personal recommendations. There are some really good installation companies out there, but there are plenty of cowboys too...

BTW, I highly recommend Clifford :)

Like all of us we give recommendations on experience and the good thing about Gap Security is they are a reputable Oragnisation with the means for customers to complain and receive any redress where needed.

I also like having the opportunity to watch over someone who ive entrusted taking my car to bits :o) good luck anyway with what ever you decide :o)

I got the Clifford 650 with Turbo timer, car was picked up at 9am from my work, alarm fitted brought back at 5pm to my work, brief training session, said to call him If i ever want anything changing, called next day to change proximity detector setting, came and did it at my work, called the day after that to change the blackjax code, came and did it at 7pm in the evening same day, called the day after that to tell him that Ive just accidentaly ripped the top of the plainview button off, came same day (about 30 mins after I called him) to replace the button, laugh at me and then to tell me that he's not going to charge me for the button!

All that for £450 fitted! :D

mobile installer too

Old? - What's replaced it then?

The Ai606 is a bloody good alarm system, but it's not as flexible as a Clifford.

Matt fitted me one of these over a year ago and it's been perfect. Haven't even had a single false alarm!

The new Compact Series (C1, C2, C4, etc) ...All in one box solution rather than the previous modular units that the 606 is based on.

I vote for the 606, had a Toad alarm in my prelude too, no problems at all.

Nope, they run alongside the modular systems. The modular systems are far superior. Ai606, A101 etc.

The 'C'ompacts are aimed at mobile fitters for installation simplicity. They should also be cheaper.
