michael
Interesting reading: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/crime/article4749183.ece ...The government has quietly sanctioned the powers for sharia judges to rule on cases ranging from divorce and financial disputes to those involving domestic violence. Rulings issued by a network of five sharia courts are enforceable with the full power of the judicial system, through the county courts or High Court. Previously, the rulings of sharia courts in Britain could not be enforced, and depended on voluntary compliance among Muslims. It has now emerged that sharia courts with these powers have been set up in London, Birmingham, Bradford and Manchester with the network’s headquarters in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. Two more courts are being planned for Glasgow and Edinburgh...
Ian R
After living in Edinburgh can't see the point. I never saw anyone that would be interested in a Sharia court if you catch my drift.

BASHTHEBISHOP
Can you imagine british law ever been acceptable for any british people that live in a predominantly muslim country? Tbh i dont have too much of an issue with it as its not going to effect my life at all. I was reading today though about a university that has abolished christmas and easter breaks as it may offend muslims. End of term breaks are what they will now be called apparently. Shall we get rid of all traditional things that make/made up the culture of our country?

Jake
Sorry, Michael - this thread is a washout. I think "they" must have all given up arguing, for ramadam or somesuch, eh Paul? Yes, "ramadam", that's how we spells it in ENGLAND.... IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT ... etc
BASHTHEBISHOP
I think "they" must have all given up arguing, for ramadam or somesuch, eh Paul? Surely they shouldnt be allowed to refer to it as ramadam here as it might offend others in the country? Maybe 'though shalt not eat, drink, smoke or shag til after 7pm my cocker'? Lbm
The last time I got involved with this kind of thread I ended up with egg on my face and bananas on my head.
Jake
Surely they shouldnt be allowed to refer to it as ramadam here as it might offend others in the country?Do "they" care about offending other people though? Isn't only their own sensibilities that "they" consider? Who are we talking about, by the way? I'm still waiting for clarification, from Paul or one of the other racialists, probably. n boost
You bunch of anti-islamisists Second that and i dont bother getting involved in these kind of threads anymore as everyone has there own views and pointless trying to get a point across to people who have made there minds up. I'm muslim and personally think that the sharia law should not be allowed in any ruling in this country as i cant see a muslim country doing the same for brits. mathew
this country is way to soft.i get so pissed off the way things change to accomodate religion. a friend of mine recently moved to abu dahb (sp) to work and she was telling me the folk there were going through ramadam and if she got caught (and anyone else for that matter) eating or drinking in public it would result in a jail sentence! thats the sorta attitude this country needs, abide by our rules, as all this bowing down to religous needs here really p1sses me off.
