The local garage think its an ECU problem!

They say there is no suction being created! (but there wouldnt be if the turbos were gone either would there??? ) and why would thius cause it to splt oil out the back!!! im not convinced !!! they never even had the heatshield off the turbos, so never had a proper look at em!

Its going back in on Wed to have the ECU fault codes read...

it would be if i believed em !

What would cause an ECU to make the engine 'use' oil? (I wired up the FCD about a week before the 'pop', could it be anything related... checked the wiring again... all seems fine to the eye)

Theres pools of Oil in my exhaust

I would be happier knowing they've had the turbos off for a good look!

PLUS - i was getting exited about the prospect of hybrids :p

Paul - Nope.... there abit few and far between, if any, up here!!!

I took it past the garage that does all the work for the importers... With the view of taking it elsewhere (turbo specialist http://www.mvturbos.co.uk they can do hyrids (turbotechnics i think) for 650 each ) if the turbos were gone!

Thats all i want to work out really!

I've only ever read good things about them. A bad reputation travels fast so we'd probably have heard they weren't up to the job if that was the case. They seem to have the necessary skills and experience in place to deal with your car properly.

Sounds like a cobblers to me :( :music:

How would the ECU stop the turbo spinning at all??? Its a free wheeling fan in a powerful air flow (very basic analogy)!!

Did the ECU re-route all the air and bypass them?

If you're leaking oil into the exhaust then it came from the turbo's or the HG. IMO.

Or have I got this totally backwards!

The JUN Skyline was bought in for a customer but is looked after by them. They have also completely rebuilt many cars and look after a number of turbo rally cars.

As for it being the ECU, as Alex says that sounds like a load of crap. Oil in your exhaust means something has given - either a seal or a gasket of some description. No turbo boost would be a good indicator to me that they weren't in the best of health and were indeed the culprit.

Hmm... all you may read is about them is good - but they managed to destroy my friends £12000 engine + turbo. We personally believe they don't know much about Jap Cars. The only Jap Car they look after is the JUN Skyline which they have downtuned - probably cause they wouldn't know how to fix it if it broke. I wouldn't take anything of mine there.

What about Star Performance (yes the rolling road in edinburgh) they have a Toyota Master mechanic working there now?

HTH

Would be interested in knowing more about Star and there knowledge of the Supe, as even tho they are 130 miles from me, they are still the closest tuner...

How did they destroy the engine and turbo BTW?

They were working on the car (installing guages I think) & let swarf enter the engine. Basically a shard of metal went through the turbo (Greddy T78) and an Skyline RB26 N1 block. Expensive.

No - they denied it was there fault (even though no-one else touched it).

I just thought that I would let you fellas know, as this isn't really common knowledge (eveyone thinks they are squeaky clean)
