supra_si
Had the car in for a cam belt and fan belt change, just popped my head in the garage as its been there since half nine this morning, They just said that they cant fit it as they cant lock the gears as its an auto and the part from toyota costs 90+ vat. they said to come back in an hour when they will put the fan and a new fanbelt i have supplied back on. Can they still charge me the labour that it would have taken to actually fit the cambelt even though they havent? now i have to get it booked in at toyota to get the cam belt changed ggrgrrrrrr
Stonkin
the garage sounds incompetent to me mate. You certainly shouldnt be charged labour for something they havent done

supra_si
well its only 2 1/2 hours labour, just depends what toyota charge per hour up here
Stonkin
id imagine you would need to pay some labour for what work has been done, but surely it shouldnt be the same amount as if they had done the full cambelt change

merckx
I wouldn't even trust them with an oil change if they cannot even change the timing belt on an auto car. Any decent garage could fabricate their own tools for doing this sort of job if necessary.
