So the mighty Lehman's file for Chap 11.

Don't know what that means for me, but it doesn't look too good.

Someone give a really good operator who can write lovely VB code a job please?

:(

I have no idea what the above means, but it doesn't sound good....:(

Sorry to hear that you may need another job!!

was wondering who else worked in the sector.

Mr Ralphman what is happening to people's salary? Are they still getting their month's salary?

No idea at the mo, I'm hoping we'll me kept on while to Co is wound down, but it's only going to be a short while.

I am also looking for a job if anyone needs a catering manager, Ralphman pop up for some tea before we turn off the lights

Are you back in London now? I'm around tomorrow for that tea..

Was nasty to hear about LB and also the shock of Merrill's when I woke up this morning.

I assume you work over in the City? I work for JPMC, if you want I can talk to our Shift Managers here about if there's operations work available... but Ops is based down in Bournemouth (it's quite nice here though :0 )

What platform do you work on etc? Our recruitment bonus is up to £7k! :)

I thought Lehmans were doing alright lately considering I heard that they just saved £50m through taxes

Confidence in LB absolutely tanked, considering they've lost $7bn in the last two quarters.

Merrill wrote down $40bn in the last year, with shareprice diving I think speculation was that they were going to be the next people who would get no confidence from the market, so sold whilst they still could.

Turbulent times indeed for the global financial sector, can see a lot more consolidation into the big players in the US, heck, we're seeing a small version of it here in the UK.

Nationwide announced a 'merger' with two smaller building societies but from what I've heard they went to the Nationwide because they were going belly up because they couldn't borrow any money on the markets and the FSA urged/asked severely for Nationwide to take them on. Rumours abound everywhere!

Thanks for the offer dude, I'll never say never, but that's one hell of a commute... ;)

Still I'd quite happily work from home, loading tapes might be an issue though.

Have pinged our shift managers, but as you may guess, we're a little busy today so don't know when I'll get a response.

Well Bournemouth is only 90 minutes from Waterloo ;) Or relocate! It's fairly sunny and we have a shedload of beaches and bars :D
